Liverpool have made a £21m offer for Atletico Madrid's Brazilian striker Diego Costa.

The offer is understood to have triggered the 24-year-old Brazilian's release clause and Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is hopeful of completing the deal swiftly.

Costa who joined Atletico from Valladolid in 2010, scored 10 goals in the Primera Liga last season.

The striker made his international debut in March this year.

Liverpool have resisted Arsenal's attempts to sign striker Luis Suarez this summer and have also signed Iago Aspas from Celta Vigo.

I doubt it. Atletico want as much money as they can get so they can pay off their massive debts. That's where almost all of the 53m from the sale of Falcao went.

I see Liverpool are back to their old ways of offering far too much money for mediocre strikers.

Unless your Real or Barca you get naff all from TV revenues and that's where the biggest source of income is from these days.
Athletico may need to cash to fund player wages. Who knows? Look at the money they got for Falcao but won't go over £7m for Capoue?

Nothing is certain that's for sure and don't count anything out until its signed and sealed for either club.


I'm just cheesing that we are in battle with a European giant for a highly rated European player..

Capoue's agent is the same as Zlatans and Ibrahimovic's, they're happy with the deal, doesn't seem the agents fault, seems the players
