MY APOLOGIES TO MALKY

Thu Aug 01, 2013 4:39 pm

When his name first came about and linked to the Cardiff job, he honestly wasn't my first choice, that was down to my ignorance of who he was, what he'd achieved and what he was made of.

But the man hasn't put a foot wrong and he will undoubtedly go onto be a legend among managers, he is so professional, always says the right thing during interviews etc.

He's built a team around him and we have gone from slap dash Joe's under DJ to a club that is doing things properly on and off the pitch, let us all remember this when we hit a few bad runs this season, because we will no doubt, but I am also sure it wont be for a lack of effort or planning.

I had a real eye opener sat behind the dug out in Forest Green, he rules that team with an iron fist in a silk glove, can't imagine any player showing him disrespect or answering back, he's the boss and they know it, just how it should be. :malky: :malky: :malky:

I agree Gwyn and if there wasn't a divide in the fan base the club would be on the perfect path in my view. :ayatollah:

It will all mean nothing if we are not established in the premier.

Football is a results business and Malky has passed the exams so far. His first season with us he had very little finance to work with but exceeded expectations. Mid table was expected for that campaign but expectations changed when we found ourselves chasing an auto place while getting to the Carlin cup final. I believed people lost focus on our primary goal of mid table and the team started to struggle which could have made them gone from over achieving to falling below the target. Malky managed to prevent that resulting in us over achieving into a play off spot but more importantly a lesson was learn't.

That first season in charge with lessons learn't gave confidence to the money men to release the funds. Once this became transparent I expected and felt confident we would run away with the league. We had a dodgy start but the lessons learn't from the previous season kicked in and before we knew it we were top with a comfortable gap. We started talking promotion well before the campaigned ended but before we knew it that gap was not so wide. Once again the lessons learn't kicked in and we were champions with some comfort to spare. However while the joy was everywhere the full picture was not complete.

The final pieces are begin sort and the glue is being prepared to keep the picture together for a long time. The next 6 months will give us an indication that the pieces have been found and this season will tell us if we have the right glue which is Malky.
