Cardiff City centre-half Ben Nugent has joined League One Brentford on loan.

Bees manager Uwe Rosler asked about Nugent after Cardiff’s pre-season friendly at Griffin Park and Bluebirds boss Malky Mackay gave the go-ahead as soon as he had completed the signing of Steven Caulker from Spurs.

Nugent, 20, needs to be playing and Brentford, who are at Port Vale in their first League match this Saturday, will offer him that chance.

We want our players at the highest level they can and this move can do nothing but good for him as Brentford will be front runners in a strong competitive League One

Hes a funny one really, looked superb when he made hisdebut and for a few games after that i was really impressed with him, as were most people i think.

However the more games he played the worse he got untill he looked like a school boy!.


20 isnt young really (only a year younger than Caulker) so if he wants a career in the premier league i think he really has to shine out on loan.

As you say Nugent is a year younger than Caulker who already has 3 years premier experience. Do you think Nugent can catch up playing in league one? Also how many of our players have gone out on loan and come back securing a first team place?

Also it frees up some extra cash for player's maybe not a lot but it all helps.
