Caulker: great signing but..........

Wed Jul 31, 2013 9:49 pm

Anyone think £9m is a bit heavy especially when we could perhaps sign foreign players for a lot less?

Im happy enough, just putting it out there..............

Not really, if he performs then his value will go up.

Remember, we cant be signing too many foreign players due to league rules. I believe this is an excellent investment, young, premiership experience with an international cap for England and will be looking for more.

I thought 6-8 million would be good but that's prices.

He is 21 and has huge potential and a international player (breaking in) so the sell on price could be bigger if he does well.

It seems to be the norm for purchasing UK based players.

As an aside he is the 15th most expensive English Centre Back ever purchased in the Premier League.

Good to hear!

What are his main strengths/weaknesses in your opinion?

What side of the two CB's did he play?

Even though he's highly rated, what is your opinion on what you seen? :)

I will tell you at the end of the season .

Most European players rather be in their own league /spot light with the World Cup around the corner me thinks.

Great attitude, temperament and excellent with ball at feet. Learning all the time. Decent pace, reads the game well. Not as good in the air as he should be and does get caught out of position. Physically strong and will surely only get better.

I'm not sure about that. A lot of foreigners in the Prem are World Cup hopefuls.

De Guzman, Giroud, a lot of the French contingent in the Newcastle team etc.
