Contreversial Chairmen

Wed Jul 31, 2013 8:48 pm

As someone who used to go down to ninian park reading how Samesh Kumar was going to turn us into a 1st division club.Roll on 20 years and ive seen Sam take us to the brink and I believe Tan is the best of the lot.He will sell up about 4 years and be looking for a big profit, but I think that we have really made giant strides since his takeover.Yes he has changed over 100 years of tradition with the rebranding but where would we be otherwise. If you spent what he has spent we should be grateful he is not an interfering chairman like the Venkys, and compared to Mike Ashleys tenure at Newcastle think things are not too bad. Some fans are a little bit over the top with their tradition and be careful what you wish for because it could always be a lot worse than what is happening to other clubs right now :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

It's all just so unnecessary, that's what bugs me. It just shouldn't have happened. Yes, other chairman have worse elements, but I bet no Newcastle fan feels alienated from their club now.

If you bought a classic car and spent a lot of money on it but resprayed it a totally different colour, that is your right if you think it would make you more money and that is all Tan is interested in.Yes I wasn't happy but I could think of loads of worse scenarios especially as we seem to be pulling a lot of stops out regarding the players signing for us.

Well I'm happy that you are fine with it.

Many aren't.

Of course, legally he can do what he wants, but he needs to be responsible for his actions. You can't do what you want to something that people hold dear and expect no reaction.

A prime minister cannot make a law, and then shrug his shoulders when some don't like it.

I can't buy a functioning church, turn it into a mosque and not understand why the same parishioners get upset.

It's all just so unnecessary. We should all be 100% united, and Tan has caused such division. He admitted himself he didn't understand football, I think he misunderstood football fan culture.

As I have said I didn't agree with it but he is all about MONEY not the fact he upset thousands. All im trying to point out he has invested an awful lot of money to try and make a profit and at the moment we are a club on the up!Where would I rather be buying into risdales bull crap or where we are now and I will take now red and everything else.Dont forget we were hours from admin on more than 1 occasion in the last few years! :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Yes, he's done a lot of good, but the club would be in a better, more united shape with a return to blue, and no confused identity and split fanbase.

I'd be the first to contribute to Tan's statue fund if he did that and admitted the red shirts in themselves is a mistake.

Tans been great for City. He's given us stability and his investment has given us premier league football.
Hopefully he stays for many years and with his continued support we can cement our place in the premier. :ayatollah:

I think for the stability of the club he needs to engage with fans far more and be open to debate on club colours. But yes, he has done a lot right..made just one error.
