Is 17th good enough anymore?

Wed Jul 31, 2013 8:43 pm

What a signing Caulker is. Without doubt the best signing for CCFC to date.

But it now begs the question, is 17th good enough anymore?

By the time the season kicks off the net spend would have been probably similar to what the Jacks spent in their first two seasons COMBINED! And they finished 11th and 9th respectively on the back of a championship playoff squad where as we have a championship winning base.

Discuss.

17th is good enough, it means another year in the prem! simple as that, any higher and it's just a bonus... what is the obession that we got to to do everything the jacks have done?

Survival is still the main aim this season I'm sure and we build from there... There's no reason why we can't finish higher, but I think the priority is just maintaining prem league status...

 Of course it is.

Why bring Swansea into it... Can't help it, can you?

Don't get ahead of yourself. Im sure we would all take 17th right now. Our fans get way too exited which bites us in the ass when something goes wrong

You seem to have changed my question. I said is it good enough, not have our priorities changed.

17th will be the priority for more than half the clubs in the prem, but its not good enough for many of them and such a finish will see pressure be out on the manager. If swansea finished 17th it would be seen as dissapointing yet our net spend is similar up to this season.

Yes, NQAT. Survive the first year, consolidate and then move onwards and upwards. :malky:

id luv to slap some sense into this guy

Because they are an obvious benchmark... And our rivals. Simple really.

How has it backfired? It was a simple question. The more that gets spent the more expectation comes with it, thats a fact mot an opinion. Im just wondering if its going to be accepted on here. Seems it will, we will have to see if its the same n the ground.

Interesting

Expectation is to survive... SIMPLE.

17th ensures that, so will be good enough.

Dear me.

I'm just worried about injuries. Great signings so far though. 3 more players defence and midfield and we will be strong candidates to stay up.

Definately. I'd take 17th place on goal difference and losing to the Jacks twice if need be. Survive, consolidate and move forward!

why is a jack coming on here pretending to be a cardiff fan.

there must be something seriously missing in this guys life!

and yes, 17th would be fine.

Sad thing is he is not the only jack pretending to be Cardiff. And I suspect he has more than one account.

All in all,a very sad state of affairs.

Yes id be happy with 17th for the next 2 seasons, then maybe push on from there.

Roathie...

Most of our supporters havent grasped it yet. 17th would be a disaster. Neither our manager or
our owner would accept it, Cardiff City are aiming higher, hence the standard of players we are
signing. Swansea have f**k all to do with this thread other than they are drug addicted cunts

Agreed. no way would 17th be good enough. expect Malkys head if we finish 17th.

Tan will have said to Malky If I Give You The Money You Want, what Will You Give Me in Return.
Malky will not have said Survival.

17th place would be accepted by all at the club right now, if offered. IMO

Especially as the PL will be far stronger (next season) than it has been for the last couple of years.

First season 17th is fine, however I'm personally hoping for a slightly higher finish in reality.
