Club Record signing Steven pens 4 year deal from Spurs

First and foremost I want to say how happy I am to have signed with Cardiff City Football Club."
Steven Caulker

Cardiff City can this evening confirm the Club record signing of England international Steven Caulker from Tottenham Hotspur.

Twenty-one year old centre-half Steven joins City on a four year deal having completed his medical on Wednesday, and will link up with his new team-mates on Thursday morning for training.

Having signed a professional deal with Spurs in the summer of 2009, Steven established himself in Andre Villas-Boas’ starting eleven at White Hart Lane last season, going on to make twenty-eight first-team appearances.

Goals against Aston Villa and Manchester City in the Barclays Premier League preceded his first goal for England – that coming on his senior debut against Sweden in November. The Feltham-born defender also made five appearances for Great Britain during the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Speaking exclusively to Cardiff City Player on Wednesday afternoon, Steven said: “First and foremost I want to say how happy I am to have signed with Cardiff City Football Club. I’m delighted to be here and excited for this fresh challenge.

“I spoke to the Gaffer yesterday, liked what he had to say and am excited about the plans he has for the Football Club. You get the sense of excitement from everybody at the Club in the build-up to the season’s kick-off at West Ham and I’m really looking forward to being part of it.

“I thank Tottenham for everything they’ve done for me, having been there since I was a kid. But I’m here to back myself up now and show what I can do. This is a fresh start, a new chapter and I’m here to kick on.”

Haven't posted on any Caulker threads previously as to be honest I had a feeling from the start that this would happen if you acted quickly, and you have. I don't think it's been posted on here, but his girlfriend is a jack and goes to UWIC and did not want to move to London, so it always had legs in it for me. Well done, you've got a potential future England captain for a bargain price! ;)
