Port Talbot narrowly beaten by Cardiff City side -
PORT Talbot Town went down 2-1 at home to a strong Cardiff City Development side watched by a crowd of 850 at the GenQuip Stadium.
The evening was a special occasion for Talbot boss Scott Young, who is a former Bluebirds' defender and current Cardiff City Football in the Community manager, as well as his assistant Marc Cahill who also works for Cardiff FITC.
The visitors took an early lead when a brilliant Tommy Smith pass found Kadeem Harris who cut the ball back for Nicky Maynard to tap in from close range.
But the Steelmen levelled soon after half-time when Lee Surman headed home from a Sacha Walters corner.
City retook the lead when Joe Ralls rounded keeper Stephen Hall before tapping home what proved to be the winning goal.
Etien Velikonja rattled the crossbar from 20 yards and Surman made a goal-line clearance to prevent City from extending their lead.
Former Connah's Quay Nomads' striker Rhys Healey, who joined City earlier this year, played as a substitute in the second half.
