CONTRASTING...

The welcome we received on Saturday from the OB in Cheltenham was great. The atmosphere in the town centre was great, as soon as the many fans left cheltenham spa, to the pub across from the station. Weather was beautiful and the pubs in town were rammed with city support-all enjoying an afternoon bevvy. The Police were all walking around letting everyone enjoy the atmosphere before the game and they were very polite: even stopping to ask and congratulate us,on the promotion.
The game passed without incident and they were really pleased that everyone had enjoyed the atmosphere. But that all changed when we returned to cheltenham spa for the return. West Mercia Police were awaiting our fans filming everyone who entered the station, with cameras being poked into faces. Even politely asking what was happening was met with a 'shut it' by the prickish brummie accent. They had a proper attitude, even following us on the train- all the way to bristol parkway. They even got off at parkway and were watching us, waiting for the train that was late, to take us back to central.
Now, there were a few boistrous, vocal lads: that is to be expected early on a saturday evening. We were just chatting amongst ourselves when they were jestering to keep our mouths shut!! some right ignorant bastards they were...anyway they were apparantly playing reading and I dont know whether they were expecting trouble, but as the train pulled in fans started chanting and as we boarded on fan was followed onto the train. We sat by them all the way to central, and I could sense the coppers didnt like us enjoying the evening!!
The Train npulled into central, and that seemed the catalyst for these brummie coppers to pick on one individual. didnt know who he was though he was only enjoying himself and not doing any harm to anyone. This one copper grabbed him as soon as he left the train, pulling him to one side and threatening to arrest him-for talking non-stop from bristol. Afew of us gathered around him and pulled them apart as it looked like this copper was looking for it!!
This copper left shortly after as he realised there was no way he could have done him. Think it was just jealousy and he wanted to let off some of his frustation. I thought what a complete prick. Glad we have'nt got to go to Birmingham and Wolves for the immediate future. Their Force must have some serious issues up there but that is not an excuse to come to a different area and think they can call the shots-just because they can.

I can add a bit to this
On the platform at cardiff when we got back , 2 of our lads had about 6 or 8 of them coppers all over them , they were right up for nicking them
I actually stepped in and pulled the 2 lads away and got them down the steps
As we got to the bottom of the steps this one right nasty copper came running down the opposite steps full red in the face screaming come on come on to the one lad I had hold of ,,,the coppers mate was right in our face filming
I calmly said leave them to me and I will take them home as no one wanted trouble
I did get them both out of the station with out them getting arrested
Not good seeing the coppers reacting the way they did

yep saw him. he was proper wanting it. twats the lot of them were..glad he got out ok the lad was just enjoying his saturday night.
