'SPURS BRACE THEMSELVES FOR CAULKER BID FROM CARDIFF'

Tue Jul 30, 2013 12:43 pm

Cardiff are interested in Tottenham defender Steven Caulker.

The England centre-half, who made 28 appearances for the club last season, has been pinpointed by Malky Mackay as he looks to strengthen his squad after last season's promotion into the Premier League.

Caulker is highly-rated at Spurs and the club are unlikely to entertain an offer for the 21-year-old.

Manager Andre Villas-Boas was waxing lyrical about the player in March after he earned himself a place in Roy Hodgson's England squad.

He said then: ‘The club has great expectations towards Steven’s future. I think for a first season back in Tottenham the amount of games he has played shows the quality that he has.’

Nevertheless, Mackay is preparing a move for the promising defender ahead of the start of the new season.

Any move would provoke an interesting reaction from Bluebirds fans considering the player's stint on loan at rivals Swansea.

The Mail were the first to mention City's interest in Capoue, from what I can remember, so there's every chance of this being a reliable report.

Unlikely to get him no doubts.

I wouldn't complain if we got him.

Get Moreno in :ayatollah:

Be the signing id welcome the most. The fact he spent a season with the jacks wouldn't bother me one bit. He's a quality CB and would be a major coup for CCFC if we could pull it off.

Why does'nt Malky stick to players we have a chance of signing? Looks good to the fans offering £10m+ for players but are we really likely to pull these deals off. A first team player for Spurs coming to us...very unlikely, hope I'n wrong.

Is this a loan deal or are we actually looking to sign him permanently? If permanent we're aiming a bit too high there I feel, he's high;y rated by spurs and cant see him wanting to leave them to move to us!

I was going to say, they just turned down 50 plus million for Bale I doubt they are going to be quaking in the boots about what we can offer them.

Again I feel we are aiming to high, last month it was a good move to aim high for players but now, with only three weeks to go we just need bodies through the door.

Spurs brace themselves!

I hardly think Spurs give a shit at the moment with Real Madrid offering £85m for Bale!

If Bale is sold, which seems likely, it will more than likely trigger off lots of transfer activity across the Premier league.

Seems like we are setting our sights too high if this is true.

You only have to look at 2 of Celtic's buys to see there are bargains out there. Derk Boerrigter for £3m and Virgil van Dijk for £2.6m, 2 players that would have slotted straight into our first team. I'm sure they would have preferred Premiership football all season rather than a few CL matches and the drudgery of the SPL.

I'm imagining Levy and AVB sat in the office at WHL and the phone rings.

AVB 'You answer it,Dan'

Levy 'No,bugger off it might be Cardiff City asking about Caulker'

AVB 'Yeah that's what im thinking'

Levy 'Hello Tottenham Hotspur,Daniel speaking'

AVB 'Who is it Who is it?'

Levy 'It's ok it was only Madrid offering 5m more for Gareth'

AVB 'Phewwww!!' Thank god for that.Any 02920 numbers call DONT ANSWER THEM!!!'

Thats because we're a bigger club than Spurs and AVB is crapping himself knowing Dawson wants to move here. Spurs are like the Jacks in many respects, they love the union jack, their manager only signs flair players and they're the third best club in their area. That's why Swansea supporters can easily sympathise with them.

Cardiff > Newport > Swansea

Chelsea > Arsenal > Spurs

Absolute quality players, one of the best centre halves about at the moment and for that reason you aint got a chance.

Your manager seems to be caught up in same hype as you lot thinking you are far bigger and better than you actually are.

Youve only got two weeks left to start getting some quality in, going after players way out of your league is wasting valuable time and making you look a little bit stupid. Keep it up Malky boy.

To be fair, "you don't ask, you don't get"

Why not give it a shot, it is the "world cup season" everyone wants to play as much as possible this season at a high level to give them the best chance of an international call up.

Worst they can say is no, then move to find someone who does want to play

Your chances of staying up with him in the side would improve ten fold he is that good. He played quite a lot for the first team last year and had an England call up so cant see them being to keen on shipping him given their current centre half just had a nasty knock too.

Never know though.
