A forum for all things Cardiff City

Joe Ledley was always going to be linked with a return to us after we secured top flight football. Everyone has their own views on Joe but I personally think he would be a great signing for us. He's a local boy and knows what it means to play for Cardiff City. People who say he's a championship player are talking nonsense. He can do a job in the premier league and I would love him to come back and prove me right.
I will be the first to admit that it left a sour taste the mouth when he left us in the summer 2010 for free but from his point of view you can understand it. Financially and the opportunity to play Champions League football it made sense. Lets be honest, he wouldn't of been able to play Champions League football anywhere else.
If he did sign I'm not saying he would be a starter (although I think he could do a job) but he would certainty be great cover & for the reported fee of £2.5 - £3 million, it seems good business. I'm confident he would add strength and depth to our squad which is something we need.
All I see at the moment is us getting linked with players who don't really want to sign for us.
Bring Joe home Malky....

He'd be an excellent signing
Mon Jul 29, 2013 5:17 pm
Top post. But he has champions league football and idolised there.
Mon Jul 29, 2013 5:21 pm
I like joe but ont think he is any better than our current midfielders , would be a waste of wages IMO we need somebody better than our current players in his position not a player of the same quality we allready have .

Why would we sign Ledley???
He loves life at Celtic, and he snit good enough for us, that's why it will never happen.
Mon Jul 29, 2013 5:27 pm
Why would we pay £3 million for a player who was quite happy to leave us for nowt when we were in the Championship. Celtic are greedy bastards - f**k em we will have him back for nowt next year

Why don't you think he's good enough? He would give us options in midfield. I admit he's not as technically gifted as the likes of Kimbo or Whitts but he's versatile and could add a different dimension to the team.
I think he would prove a lot of people wrong if he came back. Just my opinion, but my opinion is usually right.

No interest in him from Cardiff, thank god

He would add nothing. Ledley was brilliant here. But that was a different Cardiff City in a different
division. Joe would be a decent signing for a Championship side. If he was 'Premiership Quality' he'd
be playing there by now. Thats about it.

veteranfan is correct,if ledley was any good for the prem he'd be there now.
Your entitled to your opinion but on this your wrong.

Because he is not a good enough tackler, not a good enough passer, and not good enough defensively, and not good enough in front of goal. Leeds or Bolton would be a good move for him at this stage in his career, a move to a Championship team with a hope of keeping a place on the bench if they got promoted.

He'd be a good signing and clearly good enough. Proved it in the Champions League against the bigger teams. He'd add strength in depth and that desire and passion Malky likes.

Mate of mine in Glasgow, says he regularly sees Ledley and a few of the celtic players in the casinos of Glasgow.
need him to be as sharp as he was during his NP days, if he is to return.

Why would we sign Ledley?
He's no better than Don Cowie.

If he can do a job in the Premier, then why did he sign for celtic, don't say champions league, he could have signed for TNS for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He could have and should have stayed with us for 1 more year and at least let us get a fee for him. Glad he is gone and don't want him back either
Bring Joe home Malky....

Have to agree,i never rated Joe TBH hes deffo not premier quality he reminded me of Vinny Sideways (Samway) of Spurs not very creative in my eyes Celtic were welcome to him and i hope they keep him

Lets put The Champions League into perspective here
He's put in some great performances (much like Wanyama) against the bigger sides?
To Barcelona/Real Madrid/Bayern/Man Utd a game against Celtic is like an FACup 3rd
round tie against a mid-table championship side. its unprofessional, and there's no real
excuse for it, but the likes of Messi, Xavi, Alves, Iniesta are sometimes not on top of their
game for a match like this, whereas Joe, Hooper, Wanyama etc... this is their chance to
shine (same as an FA Cup giant killing) When Ronnie Radford scored against Newcastle,
when Laurie Sanchez scored the winning goal in the FA Cup final against Liverpool etc
their value did not increase. It was seen for what it was, a lad playing out of his skin in
a game against the ''big boys''. Its just Celtic continually making out they are still a 'big'
club, but they are not, they are an SPL club with a big following. Minnows against the big
boys Thats it. The top players struggle to get up for a game against Celtic... but for lads
like Joe Ledley who are playing against Susan Boyle and The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie week
in week out.... they are bang up for it.

If Malky actually wants Ledley I'd be absolutely staggered.

NO, you are completely wrong there I'm afraid. Are you serious?? I wonder why he didn't sign for TNS??

Celtic are a massive British club. Yes there standard of football isn't the best but with Joe knowing he would be playing against teams like Barca, Milan etc & getting paid 20k + a week, no wonder he went there. He gave us some great years and it was time for him to move on when he did. This nonsense of he should have given us one more year just shows you are still bitter about him going.
You sound like a Spurs fan trying to keep hold of Bale...

We missed out on Celtic's best player. Ledley is at best a good championship player. He's in his last year of his contract and I don't yet see any other PL teams in for him and neither do I expect to. I rate Leadbitter from Middlesbrough a better option.
