Cardiff City are looking to add stylish Mexican centre back Hector Moreno to their Premier League ranks for £4m, according to reports in Spain.
The Espanyol star has attracted interest from rivals Swansea City and Everton this summer but the Catalan club are looking for more like £8m for the 46-times capped 25-year-old.
Former AZ Alkmaar defender Moreno impressed for his homeland against Chris Coleman's Wales in New York in 2012 and is thought to have been the subject of a £6m bid from Swansea City.
The Daily Mirror say Moreno caught Laudrup's eye as a ball-playing defender in European leagues having spent four years at AZ Alkmaar and claiming a league title in Holland before heading to La Liga.
But it is only thought the Dane would move for the Mexican in the event of Ashley Williams leaving the Liberty Stadium.
Now moves are thought to be in motion at the other end of the M4 as Malky Mackay aims to add to his ranks for the Premier League.
If Mackay did land the 2010 World Cup star, fans would be taken back to 2006 when the Bluebirds signed centre back Roger Johnson from under the noses of the Swans for £275k.
It is understood Espanyol manager Javier Aguirre is keen to keep his star defender but the cash strapped rivals to Barcelona may be forced to sell at the right price.

Right back John Brayford is expected to complete his £1.5m move from Derby County today and French midfielder Ettiene Capoue is also a top target.
