We went 1-0 up against Everton, but lost 2-1 after Duncan McKenzie seized on Albert Lamour's back-pass.The Ball got stuck in the mud. There was no pushing or triping just the dreadful state of the Ninian Park pitch to blame.

Duncan Mckenzies claim to fame was that he could jump over a Mini without touching it.

That's the one. I doubt if they would be allowed to do that now, I remember seeing Gilo and Phil Dwyer playing baseball over Roath Rec years ago, no tropical beach in those days.

I may have a dreamy eyed view of this but I seem to remember a load of balls over the top to Tony Evans and the only time I remember him not rounding the keeper and scoring was Oldham away, he rounded the keeper alright but there had been that much rain, the ball slowed down in the surface water, never saw rain like it and we lost 2-1.

Was it Alan Clarke who threw the golfball?

I thought McKenzie caught Albert's heel just as he was about to make the back-pass ?

I believe there was a strike by the cameramen at the time so game was not filmed for MOTD ?

great game this was and a mad atmosphere with a load of everton in the bob bank.I think he clipped lamour!!wasn't it bob latchford who scored the 2nd goal if I remember rightly.

Yes Tony Evans scored for the City and Mckenzie equalised.

Bob Latchford who later played for the Jacks I think scored the winner in front of 35,582 supporters.

I believe that the Everton Centre Back in February 1977 was a certain Dave Jones (I wonder what happened to him).

Definite foul by McKenzie.I was dead in line with the incident.

I was about 12 and in the front of the grange end, I also remember it clearly. The ball got stuck in the mud on the way back to our keeper, Larmour was pulled back by McKenzie and he went on to score. FA Cup 5th Round. 3rd and 4th round matches were on Match of the Day (spurs and Wrexham), and there was a bbc strike on the day of the everton match so it didn't get shown. It was a big deal to be shown on MOD in those days, because they only showed 3 or 4 games per round.

I'm pretty sure McKenzie made an official apology to Cardiff in one of the papers (maybe the echo) regarding his foul which led to his goal.
