Double the original sentence but 20 years less than he should have got...he won't last long now at 83

still a pathetic sentence, I hope everyone of his victims sue him for damages, so if he does survive the sentence, he comes out to nothing and ends up living the rest of his pathetic life in some dingy filthy halfway house. I hope his family also disown the piece of shit

Pathetic sentencing again in this country. It is all too political.
They should have set minimum "tariffs" for offences.
Crimewatch last night showed one man get no time for 2 separate assault offences (one broken jaw I think) - it was 10 months suspended, to run concurrently. While another got 4 years for assaulting a taxi driver over a fare dispute (probably claimed it was racial so got a massive sentence).
How can 2 similar offences get so different sentences? Especially as the one guy had 2 charges and got off with both. Rant over, need a relax.

This man, for all his brilliance as a sports reporter, admitted guilt to rape of a 22 year old woman and molestation of youths - how on Earth that only mounts to 30 months in prison I shall never know. At least it's an improvement on the initial 15 month sentence which was a joke. It makes you wonder just how corrupt the system might be. Oh well. Time to get off the old soapbox and back to South American defenders!

It's because the sentence has to be applied in terms of what the sentencing guidelines were at the time the offences were committed. If he had only recently done terrible things no doubt his sentence would have been longer and that may still be the case as there have been a raft of fresh accusations apparently.

Ahh. Thank you for the explanation there Robbie - I did not know that! I should ask some friends who are law students about this sort of thing before I go rambling on about them without all the facts

British justice system is a joke. Hopefully he doesnt make it out. I've just finished reading a book ' the iceman ' Richard kuklinski. Top contract killer who did nonces for free.
