" Mackie and Brayford "

Deals agreed
Mackie had medical today
Brayford will have medical tomorrow

Cardiff City Football Club can confirm that the club has had a bid for Derby County right-back John Brayford accepted by the Rams.

The player has now been given permission to discuss personal terms with the Bluebirds and undergo a medical.

Brayford, who is entering the final year of his contract at Pride Park, expressed a desire to make the move and test himself at the highest level of football in the Premier League.

The 25-year old right-back whose former clubs include Crewe Alexandra and Burton Albion has made 117 appearances in total for the Rams since his move to Pride Park in May 2010.

An ever present in Nigel Clough’s side, he made 43 appearances in all competitions for the Pride Park club last season, scoring three goals in the process.

Derby County accept Cardiff City bid for John Brayford

Cardiff City look set to sign John Brayford after having a bid of around £2m accepted by Derby County.
In June, Derby rejected an offer closer to £1m from Wigan Athletic for the 25-year-old right-back.
But Brayford, who can also play at centre-half, is out of contract at the end of next season and the Championship side faced losing him for nothing.
"The player has been given permission to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical," read a Derby statement.
"After holding discussions with the player, who is entering the final year of his contract, the offer has been accepted after he expressed a strong desire to make the move and test himself at the highest level of English football."
Derby say they expect Brayford will complete the formalities of the transfer on Friday.
Cardiff manager Malky Mackay is a long-term admirer and the Bluebirds were linked with the player last December.
Brayford played under Derby boss Nigel Clough at Burton Albion and joined the Rams from Crewe Alexandra in May 2010.
West Ham United were also thought to be interested in signing Brayford but Cardiff seem to have won the contest as they strengthen for their debut Premier League season.

Mackie handed is a transfer request today following Forest's £1.5m bid.

If a move to Cardiff was possible I would think we would have heard about it by now. QPR transfer news leaks regularly thanks to the mouth of 'Arry.

Agreed, not enough pace for a winger, not clinical enough to be a striker

Really? Proven in the Premier League unlike every striker we have other than Campbell, and much better than Mason, Etien and Rudy. Anything under 2m and I would say good deal.

Not if he's playing on the right wing. I just can't see Noone and Smith playing consistently throughout the season.

Depth needed on that side, in my opinion.

Brayford is lucky to get a chance since he overlooked us in favour of Derby last time, guess thats just me thinking as a fan though. Just what we need though, a RB

Mackie is your typical new promoted signing in my opinion, but we've been linked to him many times, butty of Malky is he?

Mackie would have been a excellent signing last season, for now we need better.

Don't think our bid in Jan was accepted for him. Is it Keogh you're thinking of? He snubbed us to go to Derby last summer.

Mackie is not better than Noone, Bellamy, Smith or Conway so why bother? But we need someone like Brayford.

Very happy with the signing of Brayford, exactly what we need. I'd welcome Mackie too, not somebody that is going to walk straight into the first 11 but is most definitely someone that would strengthen our squad and give us further options.

That was Richard Keogh not Brayford , Brayford has been at Derby for 3 seasons

I think Mackie is a work horse and will suit our determination on the pitch :malky: :malky:

Mackie has signed a 3 year deal at Forest.

Happy with those two. Don't get the hate for Mackie, just what we need. He'll run his legs into the ground, pressing high winning the ball back. Not good enough for an established Prem team, but good enough for a first time Prem team. He helps us stay up, we move on to higher rated players.

Nobody expected Routledge and Dyer to perform like they did, maybe Mackie will thrive under Malky? :ayatollah:

Mackie may do all that, yes, but he's just signed a 3-year-deal at Forest.

So he signed for another club , does that mean we didnt have a fee agreed for him aswell ?
Ever think he may have chosen to go to a club where he will get more game time ?
I stick by what I was told and we had a very real interest in him to a point he was due a medical after terms were agreed today

I never said he had signed
