Just my view of today's game at FGR. It was good to finally get to see some football. We lined up pretty strongly to start with with the team being Lewis, Ralls, Connolly, Turner, and Naughts at the back. Kimbo, Mutch, Conway and Smith in midfield with Cornelius and Maynard up top! I was expecting a bit of dominance from today's game however FGR were very good to be fair to them. They looked like the premier league team at times and Norwoods goal was a very good team goal. Cornelius' header was a brilliant effort, I have to applaud Conways pass to Mc Naughton as that was class. Ralls looked comfortable at LB but we lacked so much sharpness and drive to go forward we could have really hurt them.
Second half saw a different side, Marshall, Lappin, Taylor, Hudson and Nugent, Bellamy, Noone, Whitts and Cowie with Campbell and Mason up top! Mason did well to win the penalty after some good link up play and I thought personally we could have 5 or 6 here. However after we scored the pen FGR were very good embarrassing us with some superb play and they once again carved us open so easily for their goals!
I was also impressed with Campbell's determination up top, and Rudy to be fair to him looked good, he was willing and linked up well! Noone on the other hand was outstanding making the keeper pull off two worldie saves before taking his goal extremely well!
I have to say Nugent needs to learn a lot in the game! he has everything to be a mini Turner but he's so raw! he could do with a loan to a championship club if possible to get some confidence.
I also do have to say we had some right idiots inbetween the city fans today! 14 year old kids smoking weed, clearly drunk and setting off a smoke bomb it was very embarrassing. Instead of having a good time and starting a few songs they decided to ruin it with that type of behaviour, typical city, small section of the crowd lets us down AGAIN!
All in all good night out I think although we won FGR were impressive considering the gap between us and they might have deserved to win! 563 city there for a crowd I believe at 1,100 fair play
