Questions for danish magazine

Wed Jul 24, 2013 3:47 pm

Hello Cardiff-fans

Together with a couple of other football-interested, I am about to make a danish preview magazine for the upcoming Premier League season.
Currently I am working on an article about the new teams coming up from The Championship and therefore I need your help and knowledge. I have some questions about Cardiff City and the expectations for the new season and hope for your understanding.

Questions:

1) Did you expect to get into the Premier League last season?

2) What are your expectations for next season (in league and cups)?

3) Who was your most important player last season?

4) How would you characterize your team’s style of football and do you expect the formation and style of football to change in the Premier League?

5) What is your preferred starting eleven at the moment?

6) Where do you want your squad to be strengthened?

7) Which player from your team could make his breakthrough this season?

8) What do you expect of danish player Andreas Cornelius this season?

I hope that you would take your time to help me. If only you want (or have time) to answer some of the questions it is completely fine.

Hope to here from you.

Best regards

1) Did you expect to get into the Premier League last season?
I thought we would be there or there abouts. I wasn't sure of it.

2) What are your expectations for next season (in league and cups)?
Can't answer that until all transfer dealings are done really.

3) Who was your most important player last season?
Mark Hudson or David Marshall

4) How would you characterize your team’s style of football and do you expect the formation and style of football to change in the Premier League?
Boring football to be fair. We sit back far too much. I expect us to play 1 up front for the majority of this season.

5) What is your preferred starting eleven at the moment?
Marshall

Connolly
Hudson
Turner
Taylor

Bellamy
Gunnarsson
Mutch
Kimbo

Campbell
Cornelius

6) Where do you want your squad to be strengthened?
Defence and midfield.

7) Which player from your team could make his breakthrough this season?
Not sure if anyone will.

8) What do you expect of danish player Andreas Cornelius this season?
Goals and good all round play.

1) Did you expect to get into the Premier League last season?

After many years of anticipation I was cautious when it came to expectations last season, but it seemed to be the club's best opportunity to do so.

It's tough to say I was expecting promotion, but I would have been disappointed had we not opened the door to the Premier League.

2) What are your expectations for next season (in league and cups)?

I think it's safe to say that a cup run last season would have hindered our chances for promotion, and I feel the same way for our first Premier League campaign. As it stands, our squad does not have the strength or depth to survive in the league and manage a successful attempt at the cups. Premier League survival is my only hope for next season.

3) Who was your most important player last season?

Tough call, as it was a squad effort and there was no real stand-out goalscorer. For the first half of the season, I would say Mark Hudson's contributions as club captain were top notch on and off the field, whilst Fraizer Campbell provided the much-needed goals from January onwards.

4) How would you characterize your team’s style of football and do you expect the formation and style of football to change in the Premier League?

Nothing fancy. The team simply gets the job done. In terms of style of football, last season was one of the most unentertaining I've ever witnessed - but we were solid.

Next season I would expect to something a little more attacking during home games, with Cornelius the big man up front and Fraizer Campbell or Craig Bellamy just behind. Having Whittingham in his preferred position a little further forward would work better, too.

5) What is your preferred starting eleven at the moment?

GK - Marshall | RB - McNaughton, CB - Hudson, CB - Connolly, LB - Taylor | RM - Bellamy, CM - Gunnarsson, CM - Mutch, LM - Kim | CF - Campbell, ST - Cornelius.

6) Where do you want your squad to be strengthened?

We need defenders - there's no doubt about that.

I feel as if we could bring in someone better at centre-back to fit in next to Hudson, whilst further recruitments are needed for both full-back positions.

A right-sided midfielder or winger would also come in handy, with Craig Noone and Tommy Smith unlikely to show their best form throughout next season.

7) Which player from your team could make his breakthrough this season?

In terms of breaking into the spotlight, I feel it'll either be Kim or Mutch. Both did very well toward the end of last season after one or two issues and are now ready to shine.

8) What do you expect of Danish player Andreas Cornelius this season?

Goals, strength, and a little bit of passion thrown in. :D

Hope this helps you. :thumbright:

Of course.

2) What are your expectations for next season (in league and cups)?

To become the first team to achieve the quadruple.

3) Who was your most important player last season?

Rudy Gestede. The introduction of his energy drink really helped fight off that late season fatigue.

4) How would you characterize your team’s style of football and do you expect the formation and style of football to change in the Premier League?

Absolutely amazing. Its tika-taka with a twist of Mourinho.

5) What is your preferred starting eleven at the moment?

11 players who aren't injured.

6) Where do you want your squad to be strengthened?

In all areas.

7) Which player from your team could make his breakthrough this season?

Etien Velikonja although we'll have to find him first.

8) What do you expect of danish player Andreas Cornelius this season?

Very tasty pastries and Danish bacon rolls provided by Compass.

David Marshall - made some top quality saves at important times.

4) How would you characterize your team’s style of football and do you expect the formation and style of football to change in the Premier League?

I've only got time to answer question 4 , hoof it down the middle.

Re: Questions for danish magazine

Wed Jul 24, 2013 6:50 pm

1. Yes. Expectations got higher because of the failure of the seasons before. We also spent a lot of money which raised expectations.

2. Survive in the Premier League and avoid distractions from the cup.

3. David Marshall for me. Saved us so many times.

4. Scrappy at times but a lot of passing and less shooting but somehow gets the results.

5. 4-3-3 With DM in goal. KM, MH, BT, AT in defence. Kim, AG and JM in midfield and CB,FC and Corn upfront.

6. Defence mainly. We need more of them and better quality. One or two more creative midfielders as well.

7. Kim looks like he is born for the top flight. One of the best creative players I have seen in a city shirt.

8. Physical and pacey presence upfront. The Benteke or Lukaku of Cardiff.

1) Did you expect to get into the Premier League last season?

Well I expected top 2 but when the signing of Maynard was announced I was dead sure we would win it this year.

2) What are your expectations for next season (in league and cups)?

14th and no cups.

3) Who was your most important player last season?

David Marshall, some outstanding performances and with 1-0 wins he was key to getting all 3 points in some games.

4) How would you characterize your team’s style of football and do you expect the formation and style of football to change in the Premier League?

Well start of the season it was brilliant. Enjoyable and attacking every home game. Bit boring away from home. I do expect it to be changed in the Prem, different ball game.

5) What is your preferred starting eleven at the moment?

Marshall

Taylor
Hudson
Turner
Connolly

Gunnarsson

Mutch
Whittingham
Noone

Cornelius
Campbell

6) Where do you want your squad to be strengthened?

Defence is the key area. 1 goalkeeper. 1-3 defenders. 2 midfielders.

7) Which player from your team could make his breakthrough this season?

Whittingham

8) What do you expect of danish player Andreas Cornelius this season?

Bit of a price tag but all about being part of the Prem. He can get goals but hopefully he builds an understanding with Campbell but known for being a good target man. Potential is there and could come of trumps for us.

This is fine - thank you very much!

I think there will be a online version of the magazine. Although it will be in danish I will post a link for it, when it's complete :-)

Good luck with the season!
