BARNETT NOT GOOD ENOUGH

Some fans think he will be a good signing, For me a good championship player, Can't cut it In the Premier.

Did well for us last year, Don't think he is better than what we already have.

Did not make It at Norwich, why would he with US.

Hope we are looking at better players than him, only My view

My view as well, not good enough for a lowly premiership team, as Narch have confirmed by letting him go.

He was solid every game he played for us....Gets my vote ! Lets not forget although we are premiership material we still have the same Championship squad as last season except for Cornelius who only played in the Danish League. Barnett would come from a Premiership squad albeit Norwich !!!!

Who thought the likes of Ashley Williams, Gary monk, Nathan dyer would have cut it in the premier league but they seem to have proved us wrong.

For me Barnett helped us get promotion with some solid performances and I think just because he is not good enough for Norwich does not mean he will not be good enough for us. If its a free transfer or really cheap the worst case scenario is that he comes in as a squad player as cover for Hudson.

Barnett was excellent for us and showed real composure on the ball which we were sadly lacking at the back, I would also say that he was our best reader of the game in the way he intercepted and positioned himself on the field of play.
He also rarely wasted a pass.
Too much shouldn't be read into the fact that he wasn't great at Norwich as he is older and more experienced now and his style of play is more suited to us than them.
When Mark Hughes went to Barcelona he didn't become a bad player he just didn't fit into their style of play, he was subsequently loaned out and some would say he regained his form but the truth is...he knew how to play in that system that Bayern Munich were playing, later back at Man Utd and he almost single handedly ruined Barcelona an a memorable meeting.
I's not the perfect analogy to compare players but find me a better one and i'm happy to go along with it.
Barnett in my oppinion would be a very good if not great signing.

agree with this, i believe we should have signed him up on a 1/2 year free rather than bloody lappin!

Ok forget the Norwich days, Still think it will be a huge step up, and playing well week in week out In the Premier may be 2 much for him, and 1 or 2 others we have at the back.

Time will tell, But sure he would be a great buy for any championship club, And you guys are right in saying he was very good for us last year.

Think last years top DEF will find it very hard this year, and we need strengthen ASAP.

He was fantastic for us whenever i saw him. Dominant in the air, good distribution and he has a good physical presence as well.

If he is no longer part of Norwich's plans I think that is very good for us because I rate him highly.

He is certainly no worse than what we have currently got and I think he could be a good premier league defender for us.

Hey mate, its gonna be a step up for all our players even Bellamy who is a year older. It's up to them all to rise to the challenge.
Even if we get someone better i'm sure he will still have a big part to play and the fact remains....he's better than some we have there now.

I will put it this way, If you think Hudson is good enough,then you have to think the same about Barnett.
He did everything Hudson did ,& to be honest I reckon he did better in the air than Hudson & was faster ,his distribution of the ball was good too, I don't see the problem.

I will put it this way, If you think Hudson is good enough,then you have to think the same about Barnett.

Using Hudson is a good example and I must agree that Barnett looked sharper but you don't see anyone questioning Hudson on here and rightly so.
Questioning Barnett before a ball has been kicked in the Premier league has no credential really from his performance last season as he really didn't put a foot wrong.

Hey Droyal it's not about winning or losing, it's more about listening to both sides and making an informed decision for yourself.
You seem to have more info now so you can always make better decisions when you know the facts.

I don't think Barnett is any better than what we already got but he isn't any worse.

But, do we need more players of the same standard. We need a centre back that's Prem quality, gonna be the first name on the team sheet and is gonna make Hudson, Turner and Connolly up their game to his level.

To criticise Malky would certainly not be on many fans agenda. ( fans in their right minds i mean haha)
Personally I think Barnett would have been an excellent addition to our squad and will be sad to see him not have another crack at the Premiership but ....hey ho...we move on and....

Honestly can't believe you've let this one slip through your fingers.

When we needed him, Leon put some great shifts in

Him + Bassong formed a very good partnership for a few games.

He Simply wasn't as good as Bassong / Turner / Bennett though so slipped down the pecking order.

He would have offered your defense great Premiership knowledge and experience and it seems like he's being sold for next to nothing.

Can't believe you wouldn't want him to help you stay up.

If we announced the signings of Messi, Ronaldo, Van Persie, Iniesta, Fabregas, Tevez, some dull tw*t would come on here claiming they're not good enough. Only time will tell whether Marshall, McNaughton, Connolly, Hudson, Taylor, Turner, Whittingham, Mutch, Maynard, Gunnarsson, Noone (the list goes on so I'll leave it there but by now even the extremely dim will get the drift) are good enough. Personally I never saw Ricky Lambert or Grant Holt as Premier League players, but hey, what do I know?
