Blue or Red, the divide is getting wider and deeper!!

Mon Jul 22, 2013 12:05 pm

I'm not going to start another Blue / Red debate as this is becoming a daily (almost hourly)occurance but I have stated on numerous occasions in conversations to both sides of the argument that the club need to get the real feeling of ALL it's customers and then make an official statment

Mr Tan keeps quoting %'s in every media interview and I know for a fact that I, nor any of my family, have EVER been asked our opinion.

so, WHO is providing Mr Tan with these figures?

It seems to me he has surrounded himself with YES men and they only seem to be massaging his ego

So Cardiff City Football Club, if YOU want to know how your
'CUSTOMERS' really feel, how about asking EVERYBODY on your database the folllwing question and then make the results of this poll available on the offical website for the truth to be shared by all

What colour kit would you like us wear when we play at home
a) Blue
b) Red
c ) dont mind

STOP AVOIDING THE QUESTION AND ASK ALL YOUR CUSTOMERS DIRECTLY

What's the use in asking a question when they won't act on the answer.

Wayne it'd be interesting to see the results even if it is just to show Mr Tan that the 'unruly and small minded 5%' is really 85-90%.

I've never been asked an opinion and I'm sure you havent either so who is providing him with the answers only he seems content with?

Hmm?

I've been here mate, mark my words, don't miss more than 5 games home and away and haven't for over 25 years but I'll ask you one thing, do you want to show me where this has been OFFICIALLY asked before? I've never seen it.

The football club are avoiding the question cos they know that he won’t like the answers. Everyone who’s disagreed with him so far are not employed at the club anymore. Funny that?

I really think that the divide can not now be shortened and the only way ahead is for compromise which in fairness I have heard many times by both sides but the extremists seem to be pushing for one side or the other.
Would a united front on a compromise be the better way to go forward? eg, give a little / take a little?
I'm certain if the vast majority come to an agreement then a much bigger following would be attained and a genuine petition sorted to move forward.

What would be a compromising solution to go forward with?

I'm genuinely fearful for the start of the season and can see things getting extremely aggressive in the cauldron of the stadium unless a truce is not called for.

The problem we have is simple.
A percentage want to return to blue as they feel this is the rightful colour of Cardiff City Bluebirds.
A percentage are happy with red and no doubt that some even prefer red and are happy to be part of the "New Cardiff City"
Is a compromise possible or are we destined to continue this hostility?

I'm not hostile towards anyone. Mr Tan keeps bringing it up every time Media Wales puts a camera in his face so from where I'm sat, he should also be putting it to bed and maybe after a bit of time, things will settle down again. It just seems to me that he loves poking the wasps nest at every opportunity

Re: Blue or Red, the divide is getting wider and deeper!!

Mon Jul 22, 2013 12:28 pm

Why would they ask a question that has no benefit to them and how do you phrase the question?

If they say, Do you want to return to blue? Everyone will say yes. If they say do you want to return to blue and we will liquidate the company, most will say no.

Two extremes but all questions can be weighted on way or the other, why would they give us free reign to return a vote in favour of blue when THEY DON'T WANT BLUE?

I wasn't pointing fingers at anyone in particular Jonesy but it's obvious that some ARE hostile.
I agree it does seem to me too that Tan brings this subject up but he may well be just answering questions put to him by the media who are ramping it up and they know exactly what buttons to press.
As for things settling down....I don't believe that for one minute and I'm not sure anyone else thinks they will unless a compromise is made.

Truth is the majority don't really care about it or feel divided at all. It's just the folks on the message boards who obsess about it every single day of their lives.

Free reign?
A compromise is not about free reign.
Those questions are not the ones that should be asked.
Questions that should be asked are:
What would you settle for?
It's very important that no one comes out of any compromise feeling that they are a loser.

Wayne I think you are missing the point which maybe down to my initial wording of the thread for which I'll try to make amends.

Mr Tan keeps quoting percentages in practically every media interview he's conducted over the last few months. I'm confused as to where this information is derived because I have never been asked via an offical source i.e fans forum etc.

Not expecting the club to change anything but the chairman isn't helping this situation by alienating people in the media at every opportunity despite the figures being incorrect.

Jules it wasn't intended to prompt another squabble and I for one try to take everyone's view but to me it looks like our chairman is being fed incorrect information and he seems to be doing all he can to stir it up amongst the fanbase and quoting %'s that we all know are wrong

Firstly I should apologise for sticking the sleepy smiley on my post but even though you may have the right intentions this has become a boring obsession with some people and the way you worded the OP was bound to start a debate ( not that is what you intended to do ).
We don't know what info is being fed back and indeed when asked, Mr Lim stated that anything to do with the rebrand he wouldn't bother going back to Mr Tan with it.
Also in my personal opinion Mr Tan talking in percentages is his business speak, which I agree doesn't sit well with us mere mortals but perhaps someone on here with more business savvy than me can answer the question ' is it the norm to speak in percentages in the business world ? '

Finally, I hope you have success in your quest for the truth but still think it will turn into another RED/BLUE slanging match and as for my position.. I will be going down to support Cardiff City Football Club, as I have on and off since 1974 but regularly for the last 11 seasons regardless of shirt colours. :ayatollah:

That is my point exactly, there is no compromise question. "What would you settle for" is an open question. What's the use of numerous answers.

There is no compromise. Try and phrase the question at the right level, its impossible.

I'm not missing any point. I know what you are getting at but what benefit do we get from a survey of ST holders when the kits is not changing.

Would you feel better if 90% said they wanted a blue shirt and it STILL didn't change? For me I'd be even more frustrated.

Re: Blue or Red, the divide is getting wider and deeper!!

Mon Jul 22, 2013 5:13 pm

Maybe Wayne yes. It seems to me he's adamant that its only a minority that don't like the kit change when in reality whether its changed or not I think he should realise that he's wrong

Re: Blue or Red, the divide is getting wider and deeper!!

Mon Jul 22, 2013 5:18 pm

Out of the many people I have asked at work, down the ground, in pubs, in my family and all of my mates, I have only had ONE person say they were in favour of red if it brought success......and he supports the egg. He said he could see no problem with it at all.......it's only a shirt.
All of the others were outraged and still are to this day.
Like you say, where do they get these figures?..........and who the hell are they questioning ??

I think the OP makes a fair point and I also agree with other comments saying regardless of any polls or votes Vincent Tan isn't going to change his mind :( However I think he is totally wrong to quote a figure of 5% who oppose the changes when i reality it is more like 95% who hate the changes but like myself Tolerate them for the good of the Club.

However i still agree with the Blue movement and the campaign to reinstate our rightful colour and badge at some time in the future :ayatollah: :old:

I haven't missed a game and nowhere have I stated a stance on blue or red. All I've stated from the outset is that perhaps the chairman should gather responses from a broader selection of his customers than he has up til now cos its clearly misguided information that he keeps quoting in the media. That is why I get angry about it, no other reason.

I accept that we play in red but I think he should be told the truth.
