Transfer news: Cardiff boss Malky Mackay urges patience in player hunt

Malky Mackay: Quick to point out that transfer deals take time
Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay is favouring a patient approach to his transfer deals and is doing his best to ignore the incessant rumours regarding potential targets.
The Bluebirds have endured a frustrating summer window so far, with Andreas Cornelius' club record signing the only piece of business to have been concluded.
Efforts have been made to land the likes of Victor Wanyama and Tom Ince, but the Premier League new boys have been unable to get deals over the line.
Mackay insists he is not overly concerned by the lack of activity in south Wales, despite the new season drawing ever closer, and claims he will continue to work hard on getting quality rather than quantity through the arrivals door.
"People want everyone signed immediately, but we all know within football that does not automatically happen."
Malky Mackay
He told Wales Online: "It's not any different from last August or last January as far as I'm concerned.
"People want everyone signed immediately, but we all know within football that does not automatically happen.
"It takes time to bring in players. You invariably find you are in competition for them.
"Sometimes prices just become too high for a player you might be interested in."
Excitement
Mackay continues to give little away when it comes to players he may be targeting and insists he will not allow endless rounds of speculation to become a distraction.
He added: "I know there are plenty of people out there who, for whatever reasons, want to throw in the names of players who have nothing at all to do with this football club.
"I understand why people want to talk about players and discuss them.
"I know people want ten players signed yesterday. I get all the excitement of that, but I'm the person actually charged with making the best decisions for this football club.
"I've done that for two years. I've recruited over 30 players and the way I'm doing it is not going to change now. We will bring good players into this club and sometimes that takes time. It's up to me to manage all that."

Do you think we are not going to spend loads, then if we do stay up he will spend more next summer?

I like Malky I really do. But how many times is he gonna ask for patience from the fans?
Are we constantly asking him personally where are the players?
Simply put,No we're not.
Forums and Media Chat platforms are rife with debates and discussions from Wayne Rooney to Joe Root.
But that's their purpose is it not?
Getting the feeling every time he says "We need to be Patient" he is actually saying "That's another one missed and off the list".

Maybe malky reads the forums and sees all the names being touted on them??on his side is the fact he has produced for us on most of his transfer dealings to date.patience is not in abundance amongst most people who support a football club!!none of us have any idea who he is looking at but why should we?

Like i said "I like Malky" and I trust his judgement on players.
But my worry is if the players he wants are unattainable he has never been the one to buy for the sake of buying. If he takes us into the campaign with what we have it will be bleak(Not all but Most).
Fans are a fickle old bunch, we can be a bunch of bastards. And I fear for Malky in his first term in Premier Management,From impatient fans to short tempered owners.

The players will be walking out to this next season the way things are going.
'Cause I
Need time
I'll sign some players so please stop the doubting
Howells school will be full once we're done scouting
Just try and have a little patience.

sounds like he is spending more time reading the forums than chasing up targets

Called it perfectly mate. Oliveira to Stoke. All not lost though us and Doncaster in for Barnett. My money is on Doncaster.

To be fair, Malky has got it right time and time again in the market with only a few blemishes (Velikonja!) and let's save our judgement until August 31st, surely the man who took us into the Premier League deserves as much?

No because quite frankly we will do a Reading

As to doing a Reading, I don't think we will.
I just wonder if there has been a bit of holding back on transfers pending the langston deal being signed. It may mean we've missed one or two but let's see what happens now.
Perhaps with the benefit of sam's fabled football genius things will pick up!

It's not panic at all but the facts are:
Nearly 100 days since we clinched promotion against Charlton.
There have been 81 Premiership summer signings up to today.
We have signed 1 player. (The only other teams only to have signed 1 at this time are teams which have vastly better squads than us - Man Utd, Arsenal, Newcastle & Spurs)
Our first season in the Premiership for over 50 years is due to kick off in 26 days !
You need to start the season running and not start the season badly and then bring in new faces. The extra time would have enabled any new players to gel with the squad. It is not ideal to pick up late signings. You cannot argue that a team is as strong as if the players had been there for some time.
Let's hope that MM pulls 2/3 quick quality signings out of the hat in the next week or so !
