Mon Jul 22, 2013 12:21 am

Updated
Stoke City today signed Oliveira.

Stoke City look to hijack Oliveira loan deal.

Reports late on Sunday suggest Mark Hughes will try to seal a deal on Monday.

John Cross at thre Daily Mirror says:

Stoke have come in and offered better terms for the one-year loan deal – and a fee of £860,000 – with Hughes keen to bring in more firepower to his forward line.

Assuming it is true that Malky is after him, that will be a proper kick in the plums

Do we even need another striker? A-Corn, Maynard and Campbell seems to be enough to go with. Defence is far more important right now.

Stoke outbid us, yeh! :laughing6: I can see that, if we were ever in for him then he would be coming here not Stoke

What? Stoke paid £10m for Crouch and their income in the past 5 years dwarfs our by about 10 fold. people need to realise we aren't the moneybags club they think.

A lot of the Portuguese and British press state that we have been after him. The Mirror even goes further by saying that we have been in negotiations with him for weeks which again suggests that we can't seem to close deals down.

There is no way that MM or the club is going to put into writing that we are after a certain player ! No smoke without fire?

Gomis, Ince, Colback, Van Dyck, Morgan, Barnett, Hunt, Fer, Graham, Cole, Robson-Kanu, Mackie, Yobo
Kalou, Kuyt, Byram, Gradel... my fingers ache now, need i go on? :?

:ayatollah:

The sooner people are aware that agents, players and clubs use the media to move on footballers, the sooner we can understand that we are not missing out on EVERY player we go for.

They know that the clubs rarely make a statement to refute their claims so all clubs are used in this way. We are a favourite at the moment for players looking to get a mid table premiership team. There are rumours put out that the little upstarts are after him and the mid table teams get a tad concerned.

Any agent worth his salt will have contacts in the media. Any agent will tell their contacts that "Oh Cardiff City
have shown an interest" - the journalist will go off that and say the've had the information from ''a source'' How
many quotes and rumours for the above 20 odd players (i could have added another dozen) have been released
as "Malky Mackay has spoken to the agent and the Club" - maybe four. Why, because without proof, they cannot
put names to the stores. It really is like watching children spitting their dummies out of the pram on here

Sounds EXACTLY right. Bunch of amateurs at City. Cant close a deal.
