Good. He is overrated and we already have a better prospect in Cornelius. If anything, we need a player with Premier League experience now. He's scored 8 goals in the last 4 years in 75 appearances. Cornelius scored more in 1 season albeit in an arguably weaker league. I really hope we dont just sign players because of their name and who they have played for as that doesn't make them good at all.

Hard to disagree with that really.

Man utd joined the race to his £24m signature in 2011-12 and then decided against. Wonder why?

Stoke move to snatch Benfica striker Nelson Oliveira from Cardiff's grasp
21 Jul 2013 22:30
Mark Hughes has spotted a golden chance to grab the lad on a season-loan by outbidding Bluebirds

Stoke boss Mark Hughes has made a last-gasp move to snatch Benfica striker Nelson Oliveira from under Cardiff’s noses.

Oliveira, 21, is being loaned out for a season to help his progression and Cardiff boss Malky Mackay was hopeful of getting the hot prospect.

But Stoke have come in and offered better terms for the one-year loan deal – and a fee of £860,000 – with Hughes keen to bring in more firepower to his forward line.

Stoke are hoping to seal the deal on Monday but there is no option to make it a permanent transfer as Benfica believe he will be a success with them in the long term.

Looks like he has signed for Stoke. No one can say that he was'nt one of our targets !

The Mirror stated that the Cardiff had been in negotiations with him for weeks before Stoke came in for him. It seems that we do have problems closing deals.

No one can say he was a target! The Mirror can say what they like, but honestly, how would they know? We know MM wouldn't tell anyone, and they don't have any genuine quotes from the player, Benfica or anyone involved with him. For God's sake.

It's not just the Mirror. There are also a lot of Portuguese papers that follow believe it or not Portuguese clubs and their players. Just keep an eye on Twitter. There is no smoke without fire and when numerous different sources make a link there has to be something in it unless it is all Chinese whispers. More often than not they know more than the general fan. Every time we appear to miss out on a target there are some fans who say " well how do you know we were after him in the first place?" If we lose out on a player it is not the end of the world but people make out that we have not lost out on anyone when clearly we have.

All it takes is one wannabee "ITK" twitter account to make up one rumour, and it all gets blown out of proportion. We haven't "clearly" lost out on anyone bar Tom Ince and Wanyama. There's no evidence we are in for him, hell, there's no solid evidence that even Stoke are in for him! Just because Portugese papers follow Portugese teams and players, English papers do the same here, and they are known for bullshit. Half of football transfer media is bullshit. Jesus Christ.

So everything is made up? What about the other players e.g. Robson Kanu that 'allegedly' turned us down, they did'nt happen either? It does happen you know. The press do not always get it wrong.

as it is at the moment. we are going down, were not far off the team that lost to wet spam in the play offs, we need 5-6 quality players in that team to stand any chance of staying up?

It is obvious. Tucker from the SE said we weren't interested. It gives all the signals as what he says turns out to be the opposite.
