"CB – Raphael CALVET (France) – It is not easy to scout central defenders as they rarely perform moments of magic, hence you often need to scout them over longer periods for their class to become fully apparent. However, it took just one performance to tell that Calvet was an outstanding defender. In the last 16 tie against Ivory Coast he magnificently marked Souleymane Coulibaly out of the match, giving him no breathing space and successfully keeping the Ivory Coast’s main threat quiet throughout."

This team was selected as a best XI by a journalist a while back, can't find the link but made a copy of the article on my laptop. Here was the team and the quote lifted about Calvet. Interesting to see so many of these still knocking on the doors at big clubs - often these sort of 'best XI youth teams' are full of players that disappear before they turn 20"CB – Raphael CALVET (France) – It is not easy to scout central defenders as they rarely perform moments of magic, hence you often need to scout them over longer periods for their class to become fully apparent. Team XI:Cubero; Wallace - now Chelsea, Chalobah, Calvet, Hayakawa; Adryan (huge player for Fla now), Espericueta, Emre Can (verging on Bayern first team), Benzia (Lyon); Coulibally (Spurs), Yesil (now Liverpool).
GK – Jonathan CUBERO (Uruguay) – Usually when scouting for goalkeepers at this age it is very difficult to find a complete player. Goalkeepers at this age usually have good shot stopping skills but their decision making and handling, on crosses in particular, are lacking. Cubero had no such issues. He was solid and commanding throughout the tournament, helping an otherwise average Uruguay side to the final and winning FIFA’s award for the top goalkeeper in the process.
RB – WALLACE (Brazil) – Brazil has a long tradition of attacking full backs and Wallace looks like becoming a suitable successor to Maicon and Dani Alves in the full national team. He was probably the quickest player in the tournament and was almost unstoppable when getting some momentum, scoring an excellent goal against Denmark from an acute angle. He combined his attacking prowess with good defensive positioning and good reading of the game.
CB – Nathaniel CHALOBAH (England) – England’s captain and most assured player. Chalobah was the most experienced player in the squad, having been part of last years U17 squad which won the UEFA U17 Championship. He combined excellent defensive awareness with technical ability, coming agonisingly close to scoring with an overhead kick against Germany. He also scored the winning penalty in the shoot-out victory over Argentina, a feat that his captain at club level, John Terry famously failed to do.
CB – Raphael CALVET (France) – It is not easy to scout central defenders as they rarely perform moments of magic, hence you often need to scout them over longer periods for their class to become fully apparent. However, it took just one performance to tell that Calvet was an outstanding defender. In the last 16 tie against Ivory Coast he magnificently marked Souleymane Coulibaly out of the match, giving him no breathing space and successfully keeping the Ivory Coast’s main threat quiet throughout.
LB – Fumiya HAYAKAWA (Japan) – In tournament football the best team does not always win. Japan were arguably the most exciting team prior to their defeat in the quarter final at the hands of Brazil. The technical ability, short passing and interchange of positions of the entire squad was a marvel to watch. This ability to change positions was most evident in Hayakawa, primarily a central attacking midfielder but also played as a striker, left midfielder and left back in Japan’s five matches. In truth any of Japan’s squad could have been selected but Hayakawa got the edge by virtue of his three goals.
RM – ADRYAN (Brazil) – The Flamengo attacking midfielder was Brazil’s standout attacker. Chelsea must be wondering if they have got the right player, having spent a reported £6 million on Lucas Piazon, when Adryan was by far the more impressive of the two. Not the quickest of players, he was however an excellent dribbler, scoring one of the goals of the tournament against Japan. His set piece prowess ensured Brazil were a constant threat from corners and he scored direct from a free kick in the group stage win over Australia. He scored five goals, including two in the third place play-off defeat to Germany and has been rumoured to have been invited to a trial at Manchester United.
CM – Jorge ESPERICUETA (Mexico) – Winner of the Silver Ball for the tournament’s second best player. He maintained a lower profile than teammates Julio Gomez, the Golden Ball winner for the tournament’s best player and Carlos Fierro, Bronze Ball winner and Mexico’s top scorer. However, it was Espericueta who was the most influential player in Mexico’s success. He was a left footed passing metronome from a deep lying midfield position, never missing a beat and dictating play throughout the tournament. He was also an attacking threat and scored two goals.
CM – Emre CAN (Germany) – His manager Steffen Freund described him as “the most complete player at his age I have ever seen.” That may have been an exaggeration but Can is highly rated by the bosses at Bayern Munich and has regularly trained with the first team. He primarily played as one of the deeper lying midfielders in a 4-2-3-1 formation but was most impressive when given greater freedom to attack. His height and strength belied a delicate touch and some dribbling ability. The Germany captain was an inspirational figure and his withdrawal through injury late on in the semi final against Mexico resulted in his team collapsing and surrendering a 2-1 lead and going out following 3-2 defeat.
LM – Yassine BENZIA (France) – France were the least impressive of the European qualifiers in the UEFA U17 Championship, only qualifying for the World Cup as one of the 3rd placed teams in the group stage.
That was without Benzia (right), and at the World Cup with the Lyon midfielder in the team, France were a much more impressive team. He scored five goals in the tournament from left midfield, cutting inside onto his right foot and causing havoc with his dribbling ability and eye for goal.
ST – Samed YESIL (Germany) – Finished as the tournament’s second top scorer with six goals but remarkably also provided his team with six assists. Has been linked with Arsenal and it is easy to see why. He is of very slight build but has pace and excellent awareness and anticipation. He is an excellent penalty area poacher but his link-up play outside the box was of the highest quality also.
ST – Souleymane COULIBALY (Cote D’Ivoire) – Without a doubt the sensation of the tournament, equalling the record number of goals at the U17 World Cup with nine goals in just four matches. Started the tournament with a goal against Australia, he followed that up with all four in a 4-2 win over Demark and a hat-trick against Brazil in the final group match. In the last 16 against France he scored in the opening three minutes but was then expertly kept quiet by Raphael Calvet. He scored all sorts of goals, right foot, left foot, tap-ins, goals from acute angles and even an overhead kick to complete his hat-trick against Brazil. His movement off the ball was exceptional and he was not reliant on extreme pace to score goals. A complete striker, he has already signed for Siena in Italy but with Real Madrid and Man Utd rumoured to be interested it will not be long before he moves to one of Europe’s top clubs.
There were many other players who came close to making the tournament XI. Here’s a few other’s to watch out for in years to come:
Antonio Briseno (Mexico) – Captain and solid central defender
Naoki Kawaguchi (Japan) – A very attacking right back
Lucas Ocampos (Argentina) – A very skillful midfielder and the best player in a poor Argentina side
Hardy Binguila (Congo) – Only 14 years old, an impressive central midfielder
Victorien Angban (Ivory Coast) – Also just 14 years old, a tall and creative midfielder
Abbosbek Makhstaliev (Uzbekistan) – An inspirational leader and box to box midfielder
Raheem Sterling (England) – A very pacy winger and skillful dribbler
Ademilson (Brazil) – Brazil’s secret weapon, a striker with a powerful long shot
Carlos Fierro (Mexico) – A very quick and lively forward and a good finisher

I can't find it online but right after the summer of the U17 world cup.
I know he's played CM for Watford - but that seems to be the case with ex Chelsea CB. Jack Cork is another one.
I agree though - his future now looks like CM. But let's not pigeon whole a 20 year old haha
