Cardiff news: Mackay on Kuyt alert

Wed Jul 17, 2013 11:41 am

Cardiff City have been put on red-alert after doubts arose over the future of Fenerbahce forward Dirk Kuyt.

The Bluebirds have long been linked with a move for the ex-Liverpool striker.

And, after the Turkish club saw their ban from this season’s Champions League upheld, boss Malky Mackay may choose to table an official bid in the coming weeks – and team Kuyt with new signing Andreas Cornelius up front.

The 32-year-old expressed his happiness at his current club in April.

But that was before they were suspended from Uefa’s elite club competition, and the star could yet choose to return to the Premier League.

Kuyt is valued at around £4 million by Fenerbahce – a figure Cardiff could easily afford – though they would likely face competition in their pursuit of the star.

Napoli, Hull City and Lille have all been linked with Kuyt, and a bidding war

Do we really need more forwards???? i mean i like Kuyt and his commitment is awesome but i have faith in the forwards we have i really think maynard frazier n co are gonna get the goals.. rather tighten up at the back and get some holding players or more defensive minded now?? Just my opinion be glad to hear yrs??

At the end of his time at Liverpool he was playing wide midfield and I would guess that's where he'd play if he came here.

He's good going forward, with an eye for goal, but he's also such a hard worker that he'd offer protection to his full-back. He would be a great signing but I just can't see him coming to little old Cardiff  :ayatollah:

I think CB39 could have a major factor in him coming here. I'd like Kuyt to play off Cornelius up front as I feel he doesn't have enough pace on the wings

I'd love him here to play on the right of front 3 with Cornelius and Bellamy, but £4million at his age would be a massive no! £1m at most i would say.

I agree to an extent in that £4m is a lot but surely we've worked out by now that we're just going to have to pay over the odds for proven quality ?

Cornelius completely unproven at Prem level an £8m gamble on potential, Ince £8.5m gamble on potential, Kuyt £4m for a proven, top half Prem performer seems pretty good value in that comparision :ayatollah:

Kuyt decent player never worth 4million
David Villa went from barca for that fee twice the player Kuyt is, not that i am saying we should have bought Villa but hope we dont pay over the odds for Kuyt if we do get him.

Why do people always compare price tags nowadays?

4 million for Villa on top of that a few extra million with wages.

i was just making an observation
Kuyt not going to come and play for free i should imagine he carries a hefty wage bill
like i said hes a decent player and i would like to see him come here just if it happens dont want us paying over the odds

People believe any peice of news

What happened to Kuyt signing his kids up to primary schools in Cardiff a few weeks ago?
Terrible dad for dropping them off in Wales before moving back to Turkey with his wife.

Did you know Messi was spotted in Nandos the other day?
Apparently now he is moving to Portugal to sign for Braga within the next few weeks.
He has already signed his wife up to the local Nandos cooking class and has enrolled his daughter in a rastafarian nursery.
That man is a legend. :notworthy:

Kuyt has just tweeted that Fenabachi are back in the European draw.

So that confirms he's not coming IMHO. :malky:
