Would you be happy supporting the team if...

Tue Jul 16, 2013 7:24 pm

If we were not able to sign any other players between now and the start of the season?

Just asking... would you be happy to be behind our current bunch of lads?
Do you believe that they have the quality and could defy expectation in staying up?

If so, then why not stop being depressed and angry about the lack of transfer activity and instead get excited about the season ahead. This is what we've been waiting for for so long and I'm fed up of checking every 5 minutes to see if we've signed anyone!
So... it stops now (for me). 40 years of waiting for top flight football and I'm spoiling it with my petty requirement for higher profile players. Maybe, just maybe - this group of players can hold their own.

Whether they can, or whether they can't ... it's going to be a mixture of fun meeting despair! I guess that's football!

I'd always support the team, isn't that the supporters job? ;)

I guess I should have asked "If this was it for the start of the season, would we be happy? Would we we still have faith in Malky and his plans?"

I get your point Bridgend_Bluebird - how could I ever doubt any of you!!??!! ;)

Fans will support whatever team crosses the white line but i don't think the current squad would survive in the premier league. The squad definitely needs strengthening to stand any chance of survival. :ayatollah:

To stop supporting your team because of something that small is stupid. People are frustrated because of the lack of signings because they don't want us to go right back down.

That's a ridiculous question. No one would someone stop supporting the team due to lack of transfer activity.

Almost certainly I would be unhappy for a host of reasons the main one being the rebrand. OK £8M on Andreas Cornelius is a good investment but if that was it after giving up the Blue shirts I would frankly be furious.

That said I don't for one minute believe we will enter September with just AC added to the squad.

This group of players aren't good enough alone, we definitely need a few reinforcements, we will do a Reading if we don't strengthen. I hope MM has some targets up his sleeve soon because only Newcastle have bought less than us and they're about to strengthen soon. It's all about bedding them in right.

No one would stop supporting if we didn't buy though. Wow

I don't think anybody would be any less happy supporting the team if nothing changes before the start of the season, but judging by some threads and comments I've seen, there seems to be some negativity towards a few players in the squad; in the sense that they were good enough to get us promoted but now they're suddenly not good enough to play in the PL and should be shipped out...

Time will tell I guess - one or two players might be below par, but to write them off before the season starts is doing them a disservice I think.

A whole of replies that completely missed my initial point. Thanks Matt you seem to understand what I'm asking.
The current squad got us to where we are and should have the ability to step up. After all top CCC teams should have parity with lower half EPL teams.

My whole point is this:
I'm giving up expecting new signings and am more than prepared to expect the current squad to get us into a top 11-15 position next season. It will be tough but let's get excited about who we've got on the books already.

It's not a post suggesting that we stop supporting the team.. Sorry if I've mislead you

It wwould be extremely naive of the club to go with this current squad.

Wouldn't be current players fault tho.

All teams in the premier will strengthen included the lower half.If where to stand any chance of survival we have to strengthen as well.Malkys got millions to spend and as sure as night follows day he'll bring in more players to not only survive but to compete in the premier league. :ayatollah:
