NOBODY OUT UNTIL PLAYERS COME IN

Tue Jul 16, 2013 3:12 pm

As Malky Mackay continues to prepare his team for the Premier League in Switzerland, he has said he will not let anyone out on loan until he has brought more players in

Joe Mason has been a great signing for Malky Mackay
Joe Mason remains firmly in Malky Mackay’s plans for the club’s debut Premier League season despite rumours of a loan move to the Championship.

Irish Under-21 international striker Mason, 22, is training with City on their week-long pre-season camp in Switzerland and is keen to be part of Mackay’s top-flight plans.

Mackay said today: "At this point in time I'm not thinking about loaning out any players.

"My focus is on bringing new faces in.

"Possibly in the last week of August or even in the loan window in September we will have to look and see who could be going out.

"But we will have to see where we are when that time comes."

The Bluebirds are in Lausanne until Sunday and Mason will be staying throughout a rigorous training regime ahead of their Premier kick-off at West Ham on August 17.

Rumours that Mason is on his way to newly-promoted Bournemouth – he has also been linked with fellow Championship side Blackpool – on a season-long loan look to be wide of the mark.

Mackay has stressed previously that Mason has a big future with the Bluebirds and confirmed that he turned down loan requests from several clubs.

The Scot insists he's ‘excited about Joe Mason’s future with City’.

Cardiff have signed one new striker in £8.5m Danish international Andreas Cornelius, but would want to add more before even considering allowing Mason out on loan.

Mason, a £250,000 signing from Plymouth in 2011, has scored 15 goals in 35 Championship starts for Cardiff over the last two seasons and is keen to play at Premier level.

Aron Gunnarsson is also in full training with City having recovered from the shoulder injury he sustained playing for Iceland in a World Cup qualifier last month.

The Bluebirds arrived in Lausanne on Sunday for their training week.

Whilst we admire the fruits of last years promotion and slap each other on the back in anticipation, other Premier teams are snapping up all the worthwhile players.

Leaving things until last minute is a huge gamble and one we may regret

Hardly mate. We've signed ONE unproven youngster so far whilst other teams we would like to finish above (ie Jacks, Norwich, Southampton, etc, etc) are beating us to the quality available players.

Yes, we've bid for Ince and Wyanma but that'll be no consolation come the end of the season and we're back in The Championship.

Swansea have bought 7 or 8 1st team quality players - are we saying we're just going to lay down and take a beating this coming season by not bringing players in??
