Other than online mock tests, how can I prepare or learn for my theory?
Tue Jul 16, 2013 1:15 pm
if you have the disc for the PC and you practice practice practice you will not fail
I also found that my theory test seemed to get easier once i had been having lessons for a few weeks as you start to pick up a "driving common sense" which will help you with the theory. But as i said practice will make sure you're ok.
Good luck

Ever heard of a textbook?

Highway Code mate as they ask you some stupid stuff that's in there about dogs in cars weird sign. What to do in accidents etc.
Most of the test is common sense though mate so you should be fine.

I reckon we should test you on here that's a good way to learn in your test then you can just think back to the forum
If you can drive on this you'll be fine

Make sure you look at road signs and repeatedly go over the tests found here:
https://www.gov.uk/practise-your-driving-theory-testand
http://toptests.co.uk/The second link, I'd focus more on the newer tests.
I did mine a few weeks ago and failed my first attempt but passed on the second, both times there were lots of little questions that try and catch you out. I revised heavily both times, so it wasnt down to be me being a dullard, the theories A LOT harder than it used to be so dont be fooled by people using the "theory test is easy as f**k" cliche.
Wouldnt worry about the hazard perception bit mind, thats all common sense and they give you a tutorial video before you attempt the test anyway.

Apologies, just realised you said "Apart from online tests"
Have a look at the road signs in the pdf. here
https://www.gov.uk/traffic-signsThey asked me a lot of motorway sign related questions.

My son has just passed the theory, he used the AA disc and highway code (only cheap, from the works i think). The disc is good for the hazard perception part, I would STRONGLY reccomend practicing this ! Good Luck - Let us know how you get on

The theory is pretty straight forward its just mostly common sense but do practice the hazard perception bit

They key point about the hazard perception test is that you must click the mouse when the hazard appears and not when it develops.
eg. Car appears at a junction.....as you get nearer it then pulls out infront of you.
You should click when you first see it and not when it pulls out.
Be cautious of over clicking or syncronised clicks, but do click EVERY hazard. Crossings etc.

Find a good Driving Instructor they will know the test and tips to pass especially the hazard perception part.
I would recommend Les Newman driving instructor Tel: 029 2039 9548.
Top Instructor and a City Steward.
