Cardiff singer-songwriter Chris Ridgeway is hoping his song Bluebirds Are Blue will be adopted by fans of the Premier League team, as they embark on their first season in the top flight for decades.

Chris, who is the father of former CCFC midfielder Joe Ledley’s partner Ruby, was inspired to write this song for Ledley after his then team lost 3-2 to Blackpool in the play off final at Wembley.

Since that time the song has grown and become a song about love, loss and redemption.

It has also taken on an added dimension now that Cardiff City has changed it’s team colours from blue to red, with anti-rebrand group Bluebirds Unite inviting Chris to play the song at their next meeting at the Canton Liberal Club in Cardiff on Thursday, July 25.

The single is taken from Chris’ debut solo album out soon

Don't like it personally. The only reference to Cardiff City in the whole song is "bluebirds are blue", the rest of it is something about love and some girl. There's no chance that any of the song will be sung as there's not even a catchy chorus to adopt.

Too many people using the re-brand for personal gain. The music video scares me, as thomas said, no mention of City at all, songs are meant to have meaning to them, you can't change what the meaning is to of a song to like that. It's a no from me
