Sun Jul 14, 2013 11:35 am

My auction for the Ninian Park photograph signed by the 2008/09 squad ends this evening at 6:00pm:

http://thelonegunmanblog.blogspot.co.uk ... ction.html

The next items up for sale are eleven Cardiff City-related books:

These are being offered to members of the message boards first. If they are not taken, they will be heading for eBay.

Let me know if you have any questions regarding any of the books.

This is REALLY off my subject matter but it really got my goat.....

Never thought I'd see the day when a fan, so opposed to the rebrand, would join Tan and sell their own personal Cardiff City heritage.

Pot and kettle mate, pot and kettle.

I'm selling a load of books, shirts, memorabilia, etc, most of which has been in storage boxes up in my attic for years.

I'm no longer a Cardiff City fan. No doubt this stuff will be better appreciated by those who are.

Joining Tan? I'm not giving that git any of the money I make, I can assure you.....

I'm not looking for an row, honestly I'm not, but if Cardiff City Football Club had ceased to exist and, in your eyes it has, would
you not cherish the memories you had and hold on to memorabilia accordingly?

Sorry for the paragraph issue which makes it a hard read.

I'll give you 20 quid for the lot.

That would be a different situation altogether, but the club hasn't ceased to exist. I simply feel no attachment to it any more and I am 100% certain that I will never feel the same level of enthusiasm for it ever again. The re-brand has proved a personal watershed. It's been a wake-up call in many respects.

As for selling memorabilia, books, programmes, shirts, etc, to be honest it's something I should have done a long time ago. I've never been a great one for collecting these things - I just seem to acquired plenty over the years and most of the itmes have either been up in the loft or stashed in storage boxes anyway. They are no use to me now, so they are better off going to people who can appreciate them. I'd prefer the cash as I can use that.

Cheers Ian. I'll note those down.

Don't know if you've ever read it, but The Bluebirds really is a superb book if you're into your CCFC history. John Crooks did some amazing work in the 1980's considering he didn't have the internet to use as a research tool.

Ok, thanks for your response, I don't feel the same way, I don't like the red but still support the team, I respect your opinion/stance even though I don't agree with it, I hope you won't categorise me as a sell out, I just couldn't see myself not supporting City. I know what you mean about photos/memorabilia, I do however regret not keeping some stuff from the old days(scootering wise) because it's nice to look back. As I say I hope you don't regret it one day, genuinely.

Fear not. I'm keeping the stuff that genuinely means something to me and in the case of the books and programmes some are duplicates anyway. The Brian Clark book is a good example. I bought two copies when it was published and had the great man dedicate one to me personally and one with a general 'best wishes'. Brian used to visit my local on a regular basis. Lovely man.

I saw one of John Crooks books out in Saudi in the mid 90s when I worked out there. Believe me or not it was in Arabic. The front cover was of John Toshack and the only words in English were John Crooks. Wish I had brought it now.

Good, because there were good times, even though the football was crap. I like you I'm sure, have, down the years met people that I will count as friends for life even if I only see them at games now and then. I wish you all the best.

Bump.

Three days to go.

Re: Cardiff City books up for auction

Auctions end today at six.

E-mail me before then if you want any of the books.

As an aside, a note for ticket stub collectors:

I've never consciously collected football ticket stubs, but have managed to accumulate hundreds on my travels over the years. This morning, I've been sorting through them as a mate wants some for his daughter and I'll be putting one or two of the rarer ones up for auction during the next few weeks.

If you are a ticket stub collector and are missing any away tickets from the last ten years or so (excluding last season, obviously), then drop me a PM with your list of wants. If I have any of the ones you want, you're welcome to them.

Dave, other than stubs, what else are you selling?

Pretty much everything CCFC-related I have.

Next up, programmes. Then shirts and other items of clothing. Then numerous weird and wonderful bits and bobs.

If there's anything you are specifically after, let me know and I'll see if I have it.

Sound, I'll keep an eye open for your posts :thumbright:

I'm feeling nostalgic for all things City at the moment (for obvious reasons), and in the past was never that bothered about collecting memorabilia..

Do you have any items from when NP was auctioned off?

Do any of the books have red jackets ?
