CARDIFF CLOSE IN ON PLAYER.

Sat Jul 13, 2013 8:16 am

Malky Mackay took a step closer to one of his targets.
Jack Colback took a step closer to the exit door at Sunderland after rejecting the Black Cats latest contract offer. And with Sunderland on the verge of signing Tom Huddlestone from Spurs, the Midfielder is thought to be in favour of a switch to South Wales.

My mackem mate says he'd be a useful squad player for us as he's versatile across midfield.

I believe that he can also play left back, this would be great for the first game where Tayls is banned.

The Huddleston link says Kyle Naughton might be available ? Should we bid for him , we need cover for full back ?

Was going to add the same, saw him play a few games at LB for Sunderland

Decent midfielder who can also step into the position of left-back if required. Would welcome the signing.

Is it close or just paper talk? The Sunderland Echo doesn't seem to mention Colback at all

Would be an excellent signing.

Paper talk, I'm guessing.

Sunderland are looking to sign midfield players left, right and centre, with Colback no longer wanted. City have had a midfield man decline the chance to join in the last 24 hours, so they've probably just put two and two together.

It appears your part of a witch hunt judging by your signature aj1927. Big bad has got it wrong in that case, you are supposed to drown a witch not burn them if memory serves. ;)

Would be decent. Can't see why we don't make a bid for Huddlestone though!

Someone declining a contract doesn't mean Malky has moved closer to signing him.
He could easily accept the 2nd contract offer, sign for someone else or Malky may not even be interested in him.

Colback may not even be on Malky's list. Colback is a great player though and I would be very impressed if Malky signs him. £2.5 million for someone of his quality is awesome.
Perhaps we could sign Ramsey on loan for the season too - wouldn't be bad for our season just so be get some stability
