Plan B - The Clock is Ticking

Fri Jul 12, 2013 9:14 pm

The biggest season for 50 odd years is about to start in 5 weeks and we still have a Championship squad with the addition of Cornelius.

We have missed out on numerous targets for several reasons, mainly through players not wanting to come to the club. Bearing in mind the likes of Hull and Palace started their recruiting way after us they seam to have run ahead of us when it comes to strengthening their squads.

Which way will MM and his recruitment team turn? Still aim high or lower their expectations ? It is going to be an interesting couple of weeks. One thing for sure is that we definitely need strengthening at the back and at this time we have brought in no players with that Premier league experience. A couple of hold heads like Scott Parker with the knowledge and know how of Premiership football would be a great help with the youngsters in the squad.

The clock is ticking and ideally it would have been nice to have had a few more players in situ by now in order to gel with the other players. Lets hope that things are in the pipeline and there are developments soon. Onwards and upwards ! :malky:

You look at the players they brought in compared to what we been trying to bring in there is a huge difference.

Peterboro must be having a party or a parade selling Gayle for the price tag.

Hull and Palace haven't really brought anyone who catches the eye. Just been bringing players who can maybe help out and keep them up.

Not massive spending just getting what is about.

We have been linked with the likes of Cardozo.. big names or players who are well out of a reach.. not easy to attract but nice to see MM giving it a shot.

We impressed Ince and Wanyama with everything just if we can become established.

We just need to go to the middle ground. Wanyama would have come here but City did not want to pay the extra 500k - 1m. Pointless going for players who realistically are never going to come to us. It would be nice for MM and his team to pull a few surprises out of the hat. :ayatollah:

Most of Hull's signings have been ex-players of Bruce, and I haven't really seen any quality there. Theres still enough time to bring in the right signings. And as someone else said Palace have payed way over the odds for Gayle

I hate saying it but that shower down west only bought Danny Graham and added a few decent loans in their first season in the PL.

Of course I would like to see more signings but we already have our 'Danny Graham+' (Andreas Cornelius) and have irons in the fire with the best part of 7 weeks of the window still remaining.

Lets not forget we have already got PL class players in Kim Bo and Bellamy so we shouldn't panic too much.

Exactlly, the only part of our team I'm most concerned about is the defence

All we know is that Ince has turned us down, not numerous targets. We didn't want to pay extra for Wanyama and that's all we know for now.
