GUTTED TO HEAR

Fri Jul 12, 2013 4:47 pm

Very disappointed to hear this morning that Ince has turned us down, this week I genuinely thought there would be signings made, Ince being one of them, Wanyama and a full back the other. The club themselves felt Ince would sign and I think the fact that they have issued a statement to say he is not signing demonstrates that, very unusual for a club to say that a player is not signing.

There will undoubtedly be more disappointments but there will be positive news as well, that is football after all.

We all may be feeling down but Malky has more irons in the fire.

Keep the faith !

i reckon if Ince had told us a week or 2 ago we would have signed Wanyama.....typically, we cant even do that now.
Although i do believe Ince was too expensive, he has potential but thats all 2bh. I mean, why hasnt any other big club come in for him? They all have far more cash than we do? strange.

Ill add my thoughts here aswell rather than create a new thread but
am I alone in not being that bothered?

He was released by Liverpool once (maybe a mistake by them time will tell), and nobody else
has decided to take a punt on him yet, as far as I know we are/were the only interested party willing
to pay the fee anyway, surely that says something?

Also the lad seems to be under some seriously heavy influence from his Dad and it seems to me
he is holding out for a move 'somewhere better' which is a dangerous game as if his form dips
or he gets an injury that move might not come again.

I know his partner has just given birth (congratulations) but as 6byssed said, Blackpool to Cardiff is not a million miles
and im not sure what Malkys Policy is but he could have even based himself in the midlands if that helped.

Also we have already spent a lot of money on 'potential' in Cornelius and if I am honest
I would prefer to spend the money on some experience, even more so if funds are limited because
as it stands, I think the squad looks very lightweight and £8million on another playerw
with no Premier League experience seems a bit dangerous to me.

Just my thoughts

To be honest im not really that worried as REALLY believe it was a BIG gamble on a UNPROVEN player Again think his father would play a big part in his career and make him believe that he is better than he really is

If anything comes from this perhaps Tan will understand what it will take to get decent players to come to this backwards hell hole that is South Wales (that's a joke by the way).

I guarantee there would have been a wage level where Ince would have come, whatever his personal situation.

His father is his manager.

His father is his agent , correct ?

His contract has 1 year to run , correct ?

If above is correct , then it sounds a bit dodgy to me. If a player leaves on a free after contract expires does the agent get a big wedge too ? Maybe I'm being cynical but it seems wrong ?

Were we used as a tool to keep him in the news ? Will it happen with a different club in January ? I dunno , maybe I'm being negative

I don't think this story has run its course at the Blackpool end. their chairman Oyston is believed to be a bit of an asset stripper and if he thinks he is being diddled out of a pay day, there will be repercussions.

Even if Oyston is not after the cash, the deal would have set the club up for the season and would have made Paul Ince's job easier. Or is that the reason does Paul want to keep his excuse intact should he fail.

I can see your thinking , maybe it hasn't run it's course yet

I'm not that gutted, in all honesty. Looking back Ince Snr & jnr travelled down here by train with no bags, they appeared to be going through the motions. I think Malky can attract the right sort of player and he will do. :malky: :ayatollah:

Extremely gutted because he's wasted our time when we could of put some of the Ince money torwards the Wanyama deal :x

The Jacks aren't having any problems bringing players in - six quality signings I think?

It's not looking good for us next season unless quality is brought in.

You do know they have made themselves a top ten team and are playing in Europe?

They struggled getting players in their first season in the Premier League, If we do become an established club and make a name for ourselfs we could be an attractive club to play for. Norwich have also bringing in top players like van Wolfswinkel and are close to signing Leroy Fer.

Got to agree with these thoughts. (apart from living in the midlands). Glad he is not coming, as better available for that money. Is he any better than Noone? Step up Noone and see what you have got.

Spot on!! Blackpool have been left holding the ''baby'' in more ways than one. The main reason i'm genuinely glad
hes not signed is the fact he did not personally ring Malky to tell him 'no deal' If it was my lad I'd have dragged
him to the phone. There are certain ways of doing things. I cant get my head around it "Dad will you please ring
that man for me I'm worried he might shout at me" - I think we've swerved a problem. Its obvious hes a talented
footballer, but Liverpool know him best and they dont want him back do they!

Breaking the bank for Tom Ince is a bit OTT

His dad is his agent aswell, the agents do all the communicating between clubs and players, so nothing out of the norm. Just because its his dad.
