A forum for all things Cardiff City

I know I've put the same kind of post on a few times and get comments on it like (give the boy a break he's only 21 he needs time to figure out what his next move is) but that just that don't cut it with me at 22 I was married, had a kid on the way and was buying a house! So in my eyes he's stringing us along until he gets a better offer of course IMO but I'm happy if we cancel our offer and get will Buckley in for half the price and defo half the ego.

And at 21 years old I had the choice between 2 things, both of which I thought would see me on my way to my dream. I chose what turned out to be the wrong one and wasted 3/4 years before getting my chance second time around. Just because his choices both involve a salary most will not achieve does not mean Tom Ince does not have a choice he finds difficult to make.
Your comment is nonsense unless of course it was fuelled by your own ego...

My ego? I'm 27 I got two lovely kids a great wife and I nice house but ain't got an ego mate I'm a printer like you made the wrong choice but didnt have a great club with vision offering me a lifeline to the premier league when nobody else looks that interested!

I think we are all looking at this with our blue (sorry rose) tinted glasses on.
Ince is not, unlike ourselves, a city supporter. My guess is, having grown up in the North West he wants to see if a club was interested in him there, chances are his agent will have mentioned if there is someone else sniffing.
Yes we are an upwardly mobile club and we all see it but if you really put your head where his is, surely you can understand. At 21 he has no money issues whether he stays or not so that is a moot point. If he comes in and we are relegated (God forbid) he is potentially seen as not as good as predicted and is then back in the championship. If he stays one more season at Blackpool or just a half and impresses (albeit at Championship level) then Liverpool/Arsenal/Tottenham etc might come knocking. Even if we factor in him wanting an almost guaranteed starting spot then that leaves the likes of Everton a decent choice for him and a fairly plausible destination. if we think about it, the likelihood of him doing well before Christmas and having others still interested is relatively high.
now let's think about Big time Charlie Paul. Very probably his hero in football, someone he obviously has great respect for as father and manager and his Dad publicly wants him to stay. He will have loyalty to his father who needs a decent season to rebuild his reputation as a manager which, to me at least, appears fragile at the higher levels. Woul;d any of us find it easy to do this to our fathers if we had that kind of relationship? Tom Ince will not want for money so I really feel it will not be about salary although I agree ours sounds hugely attractive in comparison.
Another thing we have to think about is whether he feels the kind of player who can handle the pressure of starting in the Premier League with a new club in it who are amongst the favourites to struggle and being the record signing which carries an expectation from fellow players, management staff & fans. I'm sure MAlky has done his good job assessing his mentality and is still keen but is Tom Ince convinced himself? Would you back yourself 100%?
Personally, and maybe this is because I now live outside of Cardiff & the UK and can see things outside the circle a little, I can appreciate the kind of difficulty he might be having. Regardless of what we think of our club as supporters, we do not know everything and certainly not what his situation is. I would imagine the above is a fair representation of some of the issues he has at the moment in deciding.
I think we should just try and stop guessing. If, and I do mean if he decides to stay at Blackpool or move elsewhere (if he is bid for) then that is fair enough from a human perspective. We have all made choices, some work, some don't, some make friends, some don't but we are all at risk on this board of taking this as a slight on our club. I prefer to think the opposite way, if he doesn't sign the so be it, we tried, showed the league our intentions and failed but it was just life. If he signs however, I would see this as quite a big vote of confidence in the club, Malky and city. Cornelius brought that factor with him when we found out other European names wanted him, let's not lose that optimism with Ince before he signs (if in fact he does).
As for my ego comment, apologies if I offended you. but you did mention yourself in what I hope (as it sounds like you earned it) was a proud way. A definition of ego is 'a pride in the self of an individual person; the conscious subject'.
I am fully aware that I also have an ego under this definition. If Tom Ince does sign then a (healthy) dose of ego will be a good thing for us in the long run I'm sure

Wow that post would of taken me a week to type! Yes you do put A different perspective on the ongoing transfer saga a lot more depth than I had probably thought.
I think that much of this could be true but also feel slightly miffed at the fact that he has needed another 48 hours to finally decide? My patience has worn very thin over the past month with people who seem to be messing us about and also with the hundreds of stories, rumours and people who have a friend down the stadium who sells hotdogs who overheard someone saying that Rooney has been down for a tour and talks.
Thanks for the apology much appreciated I'm getting a bit touchy with this heat.

The impatiant people are moaning !.. Sit back, relax, wait for malky to make the moves, im pretty sure no matter what date or time he signs, hes still gonna give 100% for the team and fans (if he signs), he can do whatever he wants, if i was him i would wait for more options !
