Paul Ince is a contender for the vacant England Under-21 manager's job, talkSPORT understands.
The future of the Blackpool boss has been in doubt this summer amid reports of unrest at Bloomfield Road over a lack of transfer funds.
Ince, who only took charge of the Championship club in February, is understood to have offered his resignation but was persuaded to stay on by chairman Karl Oyston and lead a challenge for promotion back to the Premier League.
However, his future is now up in the air again, with the 45-year-old in the frame for the U-21s post.
The FA are hunting for a successor to Stuart Pearce, whose contract was not renewed after a disastrous European Championship campaign this summer, and former Manchester United star Ince, who won 53 caps for England, could be an ideal replacement
