He will be lethal with a quality midfield like spurs have behind him...

I suppose Darren Bent will be staying there now. Shame.

I said it in another thread this morning, but I think he's a mercenary to ask for a transfer after one season. Villa plucked him from nowhere and helped him become a household name - the least he could do is honour his contract or at least give them another season.

They were just talking about this on TalkSport, the general concenus was he is doing it the correct way by handing in a request, rather than using his agent to stir the shit and force a move.

Why's that the least he could do? They bought him and paid him a wage, he replied by scoring the goals that kept them from getting relegated. There's no way they'd have stayed up without his goals.
He's now requested a transfer in the correct manner, and Villa will make a nice profit from his sale.

Yes, he did keep them up with his goals, but it's the classic obscure foreign footballer mentality of coming to the UK to play for one of the smaller clubs, then throwing their toys out of the pram the next season and wanting to leave because they've scored a few goals. At the end of the day he's getting paid good money to do what he loves doing - playing football. What harm will at least another season do him? If anything, people will consider him more of a proven goalscorer if he can repeat last season's performance.
And yes, he did things the right way by getting a written request in, but still, it's the sentiment for me. Contracts mean nothing in football these days because money talks so loudly...

As my finger was hovering over the thread button I was thinking, and actually saying please don't, please don't.
