Nigerian defender Taye Taiwo has revealed that he declined an offer from Cardiff City to join Bursaspor from AC Milan.
The left-back, who had a loan spell with Premier League side Queens Park Rangers in 2012, decided to move to Turkey after failing to force his way into the Rossoneri’s first team on a regular basis since signing from Marseille in 2011.
He also spent time on loan at Dynamo Kyiv last season, but the Nigerian has now exited the San Siro on a permanent basis, signing a three-year deal with the club who recently finished fourth in the Turkish Super Lig.
Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay was keen to add the 28 year-old to his newly-promoted squad, but Taiwo is happy with his decision not to return to England.
"I am delighted,” he was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. “I wanted to play in the Turkish league with a good team and I made a good choice.
"Cardiff contacted my agent but I decided to come here."
