" The Welcome Stand "

Surprised nobody noticed this, I only noticed when I read something about it on the other board. Looks like the Canton Stand is no more, now the Croeso Stand. :?

The Welcome stand - how creative!

Its nice to see some Welsh adverts in the ground, even if it is red.

Do you think they meant to translate it as "you're welcome to stand"??!

It's Wales, what other colour would it be? Can you imagine if Wales was rebranded? :D

What are the chances of moving from where I'm sitting to one of those white seats rite on the edge of the pitch, that's what you call close to the action

It has to be "welcome" to the stand surely.

Otherwise I will be changing my user name to " croeso stand Baz"

Misleading title, But I think they mean welcome to the stand type thing :ayatollah:

Re: Canton stand renamed - Croeso Stand

It can't mean welcome to the stand. As Eisteddle Croeso translates directly into Croeso stand. Same as on the outside of each stand. Eisteddle Ninian, Grange etc..

Not misleading all all, pretty sure the jacks have a Croeso Stand aswell, I know they have the same advertising in their ground.

As far as I'm concerned that translates to the Canton Stand, just as the Ninian Stand is the Bob Bank.

Translated directly, it doesn't. "Eisteddle Croeso" translates as "Welcome Stand", if they wanted to have "Welcome to the Stand", they've written it incorrectly.

Translated directly It says:

STAND

..WELCOME

makes perfect sense

But ''Stand'' is also written in English below it. I was going to say, thats where the confusion starts, but surely people arent that thick they are just determined to argue

No, translated directly it is actually "Welcome Stand" as that is how the Welsh language works. This is how the welsh language is written. It is the opposite to English, if you like.

Just like: - Eisteddle Ninain = Ninian Stand.

To be honest are you really going to stop calling it the canton stand? So who cares, good to see more welsh sponsoring in the stadium :ayatollah:

I can't see the Grange End old boys who've been occupying it the last few years, calling it the Croeso stand... ;)

I like the Welsh advertising and I think the red and blue together looks nice, seems better with more colour in the ground

If you read that you wouldn't translate it to mean you were welcome to stand would you? NO. You would assume it means Welcome To The Stand. Am I right?

If you see a sign that says EXIT do you automatically treat that word as a command and head for it?

of course you don't.

So ok, as we could be here for a week. Technically, the arrangement of the wording could be misconstrued. But only by an idiot, or by someone who loves to pick holes and arguments in everything he sees. Its a bit like "is this the right room for an argument - Ive told you once"... funny for ten seconds, but in truth, its pretty infantile. So you win, I'm 37 yrs old

Where did I say it would be used as a direction to stand?

Someone tried to translate it incorrectly, so I just put it right for them. What the hell are you going on about your age for?

Im not sure who is saying what above, but it is called the Croeso (or Welcome) stand.

Eisteddle Croeso = Croeso Stand.
So, there'll be the Ninian, Grange End, Grandstand and now Croeso.
