Sam hamman. Can you answer me one question? Thanks

Fri Jul 05, 2013 8:17 pm

Just one question please. I'm not asking if you think Sam is great/ shit/ crook/ the messiah. I'm not asking about black tuesday with kav in a helicopter to wigan. I'm not asking about langston. I'm not asking about the debt.Im not asking if you like the man or not.

Just this one question, honest answer, would we be in the the premier league now if sam hamman didn't take the club over in 1999/2000 ?

Thanks in advance for answering.

Probably not.

Impossible question to answer. Just look at how far Swansea have come.

We could well have done it a different way without the debt problems that are still affecting us.

How could we tell to be honest? As someone else said Swansea had worked themselves up the Prem and before we did, other clubs around us at the time have been to the prem before us.

You could also look at it as if Sam hadn't saddled us with the debt he had we might have made the Prem before now. Its all ifs and buts

It is an impossible question answer although I would stretch a point and say we wouldn't have a new 27000 seat (blue) stadium without Sam taking over in 2000

no. as i was led to believe there was no one else? lets be honest. it was a rollercoaster . only after the event did people start asking questions,

Another question could be would we have been on the brink of going out of business if Sam didn't take over?

I answered no because we would be fucked without that man, for the reasons the o.p states.

We were always a sleeping giant that needed a poke or a prod!

I'm not up on the Fianancial side but all I know is he came, he got us on the right rd and now were in the prem

We still have our great club and Sam could of made it very difficult but he didn't and now were in the best league in the world inside 15 years :notworthy:

I know it's a hypothetical question, which cannot be proved, but if you had to put 100 quid on the right answer, where would your money go?... Yes.or No..? Would we be in the prem league now if sam hamman didn't take over in 2000?

Not 'knocking' Sam himself as he did put this club on the road to believing it COULD be done ;)

But IMHO not a cat in hell's chance of us being anywhere near the Premier League if it was left to Sam back then, as he simply didn't have the finances and (as was proven before Tan) no one was willing to join in to make it happen :( :ayatollah:

We would have been fucked without him and we were certainly fucked when he left. Quicker he leaves the club alone the better, big fan of him but he undoubtedly screwed us over. Thanks for the ride Sam but we are in far safer hands now.

Whatever you think about Sam he definitely started the ball rolling.
A very charismatic guy who's dream sadly turned into a nightmare.there were some good times though.

Defo could been done. He only took us up one division ffs. Yes wed just been relegated back down to League 2 when he took over but even before his input we were a yoyo club between league two and one before he arrived and a championship team when he left.

Ridsdale and Jones took us to the next level in terms of being serious about promotion to the PL.

Malky finished the job but thanks in the main to Tans backing.

Likes of Peterborough, Yeovil, Doncaster.etc have all gone from league 2 to Championship without kamikazee spending like Sam did so theres no reason we couldnt have done it without Sam and then someone come along like Tan did and take us to that next level.

Dare I say it Swansea nearly dropped out of the league and they done it .

FFS!!! Ricky Wright was the 'visionary' who woke Cardiff City fans up to the idea we could be a big Club again and it was only a few years before Sam the liar came on board. Sams blind disciples always say that we would ''never have gone bust'' even if Tan hadnt stepped in cos ''someone else would have come forward"... so they cant argue that maybe there was an honest man just around the corner waiting to finance Cardiff City until Hammam turned up

Why even ask a question nobody can answer? is there an agenda here? has sam been asking his troops to get people back on his side? apart from a handful, the Cardiff City fanbase hates the man

You're reading between the lines again. I don't " love" sam. I'm just asking a hypothetical question. There's no right or wrong answer, i just wondered what people thought.

Well ok. Hypothetically speaking. Hammam came on board only a few years after Ricky Wright left really. Ricky had Cardiff all over the press and media a few years previously when he ''floated'' the .idea that Cardiff City were a big thing waiting to
happen. So its very possible that somebody else rather than hammam could have come in around that time and took the club over. its also very possible that whoever else had come in would have also realised NP was on its last legs and had the idea for a new ground

also we would not be in our new stadium if sam still in charge so where would we be now ?? :?:

Re: Sam hamman. Can you answer me one question? Thanks

Fri Jul 05, 2013 10:57 pm

No because Sam came here and gave the club ambition, He wanted us to be playing in the top flight in a nice, big modern stadium and be well known across the world, Without his vision we wouldn't be in this position :ayatollah:

I notice you forgot to mention Kumar, lets not cherry pick. .Come after rick wright and before hamman. What about another 10 years of him? Or someone like him, What division would we be in then?

Re: Sam hamman. Can you answer me one question? Thanks

Fri Jul 05, 2013 11:12 pm

Kumar had long gone before Sam

We got promoted from the dungeon in 1999. 1 year before Sam arrived so it wasnt beyond the realms of possibility we could do.it again without Sam.

Players like Legg, Bowen, Young and Earnie were at the club before Sam.

What you are intimating is that without Sams input there would have been no new Ground plans, and no talk of top flight football. You dont know that. Sams gang still try to make light of him trying to take us to the wall by saying "oh we would have found a backer to clear the tax bill etc, Tan wasnt the only one out there" - They dont know that either. Sam will not get a vote of thanks from the fan base. He will on here. But the vast majority remember how he lied "i made mistakes" is frankly, insulting... it wasnt a mistake to hide the fact he'd mortgaged the Club up to the hilt without telling us. it was deciept. he pretty much committed fraud. He CERTAINLY conned Cardiff City fans, and the Club
