' OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT '
5th July 2013
A new one year contract.
Cardiff City is pleased to announce that Kevin McNaughton has signed a new contract with the Club that will keep him at Cardiff City Stadium until June 2014.
The Bluebirds’ longest serving current squad member, Scottish international Kevin joined City from Aberdeen in May 2006 and has made over 250 first-team appearances for the Club during a hugely successful seven year spell. He was unanimously voted as the Supporters Club’s Player of the Season in 2011 and played a big part during City's 2012/13 season run-in towards the npower Championship trophy.
Speaking exclusively to cardiffcityfc.co.uk on Friday, Malky Mackay said of the news: "Kevin has been a terrific servant for this Football Club and I'm thrilled he's staying with us as we prepare to embark on the Premier League.
"Good, experienced professionals like Kevin are essential for a squad's success and I know this news will please City supporters, as much as it does my staff and I, who know and appreciate what a hard working a dedicated Cardiff City player Kevin is."
And speaking exclusively to Cardiff City Player - in an interview that you can watch now by CLICKING HERE or visiting our YouTube channel - Kevin said: "I'm delighted to have committed my future to the Club and I'm buzzing for the challenge ahead.
"There was a decision to be made this summer as I want to play first-team football. I know that I've a lot of hard work to do to make sure I can achieve that here, but I'm ready for it.
"I didn't want to look back at the end of my career and think that I never gave the Premier League a crack with Cardiff City."

What happened to the two year contract he was offered then?

He probably wasn't offered a two year contract
Another good ITK story

Or he only wanted a one year contract to see how much game time he got making it easier for him to find another club if that's what he wants. Personally I think he'll ritirea cardiff player and be given a job at the club. May be an ambassador like Scott Young?

Really chuffed for Kev. A fantastic professional who lives the club. He really deserves a premiership season.

So you think he asked for a one year deal and you also think he's going to retire at the club

don't talk wet

Only right that he gets a crack at the Prem, having been a part of all the highs and lows of the past few years. A true professional.

5 July 2013
Cardiff defender Kevin McNaughton has penned a new one-year deal.
The 30-year-old Scotsman has been with the club since 2006 and is currently their longest-serving player.
