Cardiff have been told they would be wasting their efforts in trying to prize defender Kurt Zouma away from St Etienne during the current transfer window.
The France Under-20 international has attracted interest from the Bluebirds, as well as Wolfsburg and Anzhi Makhachkala after impressing at the World Cup currently on the go in Turkey.
'Die Wolfe' have confirmed they are keen to bring Zouma to the Volkswagen Arena ahead of the new season, but 'Les Verts' are not in the mood to entertain any offers for the highly-rated 18-year-old centre-back.
Having allowed star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to join Borussia Dortmund earlier this week, the Ligue 1 outfit will not sanction any further departures, according to their president Roland Romeyer.
"We've been very clear. There was only one player given permission to leave - Aubameyang," he told RMC.
"No other player will leave this season, because we want to continue to have a competitive squad. Christophe Galtier asked to keep his squad. Zouma has great potential to improve a lot, we want to keep him this season."

I put the laugh there for sarcasm. I am only messing around. Frustration is normal for supporters in transfer window. MM knows who he wants and he's not going to lose out.
