Cardiff have made a late move for Le Havre left-back Benjamin Mendy who has been in talks with Sunderland.
The 18-year-old is valued at £5million.
Sunderland have been attempting to reshape their squad and have already completed the £2m signing of goalkeeper Vito Mannone from Arsenal but the late move from the Welsh side has put the deal with Mendy in doubt.
