I thought the post was going to open by saying he was buying WBA, he must have acquired a fortune by now.....

Is his heart still in it ?

I think he only sulks when he's not at a big club and can't be centre of attention.

Would provide bags of experience but don't think he has that quality he was once was and his wage will be a huge problem when he went to Shanghai to play football his wage was ridiculous.

Will be a good signing for them IMO

Even Chelsea couldn't keep him there at one point when they offered him a contract as it was to low.. around about 160,000.

Wonder how much WBA are forking out.

Didn't know he was a Muslim: "After discussing religion with some childhood friends, Anelka converted to Islam in 2004 in the United Arab Emirates, taking the Muslim name of Abdul-Salam Bilal."

West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Clarke believes that the signing of Nicolas Anelka will add much needed "firepower" to his side.

The 34-year-old joined the Baggies on a one-year deal after completing a medical at the club this afternoon.

Clarke hopes he will able to replace some of goals lost from his side last season when Romelu Lukaku returned to the Blues, following his successful loan spell at The Hawthorns last season.

He told the club's official website: "We are missing a bit of firepower from last year – we're trying to put that right – and to kick off with the signing of Nicolas at the start of the summer is a great boost for everyone at the club.

"The sole focus at the club is trying to build on what we did last season. The more quality players you can bring to the club the better – and no-one can question Nicolas' quality."

Anelka spent part of last season on loan at Juventus after leaving Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua.

On a one year deal it's a good signing for any club imo.

I'd have took him here if Mm wanted him but not sure he fits in with the style Mm is trying to create.

Getting him down from under 100,000 a week would be something.

LONDON (Reuters) - Former France striker Nicolas Anelka has joined West Bromwich Albion after passing a medical, the English Premier League club said on Thursday.
LONDON (Reuters) - Former France striker Nicolas Anelka has joined West Bromwich Albion after passing a medical, the English Premier League club said on Thursday.

A statement on the club website (www.wba.co.uk) said the 24-year-old has signed a one-year contract with a further year's option in the club's favour.

Anelka, who has played for Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Bolton and Chelsea, was a free agent after ending his loan spell with Juventus at the end of last season.

He has won league and FA Cup doubles with Arsenal and Chelsea and national titles with Fenerbahce in Turkey and Juventus.

His move to West Brom reunites him with Steve Clarke, the Albion manager who was part of the backroom coaching staff when Anelka joined Chelsea in 2008.

"We are missing a bit of firepower from last year - we're trying to put that right - and to kick off with the signing of Nicolas at the start of the summer is a great boost for everyone at the club," Clarke said.

"The sole focus at the club is trying to build on what we did last season. The more quality players you can bring to the club the better and no one can question Nicolas' quality.

"He's got a great work ethic, looks after himself and is a consummate professional. His experience with some of the top clubs in England and Europe will stand the group in good stead."

West Brom are usually quite tight with wages so I bet he has taken a huge wage drop.
