Celtic boss Neil Lennon urges Cardiff City to come back with bigger offer for Victor Wanyama.
Speaking from his pre-season training camp in Germany, Neil Lennon has called upon the Bluebirds to match Southampton's £12m bid for their star player.
Celtic boss Neil Lennon has urged Cardiff City to come back with a bigger offer for Kenyan star Victor Wanyama.
Speaking after the Bhoys' 1-0 pre-season defea t to Ukrainian outfit FC Sevastopol in Germany, Lennon said: “Cardiff are in for Victor but they have not made a concrete offer yet to us.
“I'm not convinced the terms of the offer they're looking at are what we want.”
The Bluebirds offered £10m for the midfield maestro the week before last, while Premier League rivals Southampton offered £12m.
But the package the South Wales club are offering appear to be more attractive to the 22-year-old.
Sources close to Cardiff suggest they are planning a second bid of £11m for the man who scored a Champions League goal against Barcelona last season.
Of the second bid, Lennon said: “They are coming in again I think but as things stand, he's our player.”
Wanyama will fly out to Germany to join the Celts today and will prepare for the Champions League qualifier against Irish outfit Cliftonville.
Keen to make the maximum out of any deal for the club, Lennon was keen not to rule The Saints out of the running for his star player by saying: “We'll see Victor when he joins up with us today and take it from there.
“We accepted one bid previously and that's the level we are looking at.
“Southampton may come back again so I wouldn't rule them out of the running either.”
