I don't remember him saying that but that's a hell of a lot of money for a club of our calibre to be paying right now.

Heard last week that villa were prepared to let him go for £5m and would have to pay some of his wages for 2 years ...bargain with that deal.

No 1 will pay him that now, Just saying at 29 If he want's to play week In week out 40k and week would be a good deal if we could get him 4 that.

My main concern is his fitness. Otherwise to pay high wages would be stupid if he wasn't playing regularly.

His fitness has never been an issue. I thought the reason he hardly played last season was because of some appearance clause in his contract which meant villa would have to fork out more money?

Will be amazed if he ends up here ( IMO ) - More chance of Newcastle or Fulham getting him ( at the moment ) .

More clubs may come in for him,he has just got married,so will be looking at a long contract at his age.

for £5m and decent wages he'd be great for us! prem experience, bags goals... wont judge him on his last season, villa couldnt be arsed to play him cos of some pay rise!

A risk seem to be able too match mid table teams on wages, and as we know In the prem that's 30 to 60k per week
