Category 1 Academy status

Do we want it? I don't think its a good idea for a club like us.

I think we may be doing it as a status symbol rather than actual practicality.

Of course it's good for us. Doesn't that mean the bigger clubs don't get the pick of our youngsters?

no, the opposite. free movement I think between category 1 academies with set compo of £209k per player. but it costs around £2m a year to run.

Of course its a good thing. At the moment we're Cat 2. It means that any team from Cat 1 can come along and take a youngster and not pay us a penny. It's been put in place to help youngsters develope, but will damage lower league teams in my eyes.

It allows us to get the pick of the players lower down the league. It will also be good for us to attract forgien youngsters.

Don't quite see it that way myself.Nothing wrong with raising the bar-ultimately it should benefit all the local youngsters.
