The most over used word in football is...

On our 'badge'.

Forgive me all, this is my first post in a few years and I have been living abroad for 4 years now (first in Helsinki and now Mumbai) although a Cardiff native so have missed a few things in that time.

Obviously I have followed the rebranding nonsense and have been reading the boards etc and even got to the Palace game when visiting the family not long ago but the words 'Fire & Passion' being everywhere, particularly 'passion' is just awful.

Does anybody else cringe with the embarrassment of mistaking a fat lady for a pregnant one when they read those words? All I read is about the colour but for me, the worst of a terrible bunch of half arsed decisions is this 'motto'. The word passion is overused in football anyway with pundits, fans & bad coaches mistaking a lack/abundance of determination, fitness and skill for some mysterious element . With a season coming up now in which we will (probably) not win the league and may even struggle for the first time in a few, all kinds of people are going to be asking for 'passion' making Our Cousin Vinny very happy with his slogan as I'm sure he will think it a triumph even if it is meant in a different context.

That I will be setting fire to any red shirt in the stadium car park if I am given one by my sister when I'm home for Christmas will complete his stupid motto and I can not let this happen and not just because she is more likely to get me a rugby shirt (Blue for Cardiff obviously).

So, as a request from me all the way over here in Mumbai, can we try and boycott the word passion? It's just every time I see it I feel like someone took a massive dump at a party and blamed me, leaving me feeling a bit used and ashamed through no fault of my own.

Also, I assume I have missed a full year or so of us all suggesting Mr.Tan got a primary school student who was given a mac and photoshop for their birthday to 'design' this 'badge'? This has totally ruined any chance of me buying any blue away shirts in bulk to dress my work team in something decent rather than a black and yellow attempt at a kit which only makes me look more obvious as the only white guy on the pitch and which referees enjoy booking me for inappropriate yet often amusing backchat and swearing in bad Hindi.

I had a horrible feeling this was the response I would get.

Now I feel like its that moment after a haircut, you know you hate it, inside you are wanting to rip the barbers head off and wear his hair as your own until your hair grows back but ultimately you are too polite to say anything and just smile, perhaps even muttering 'thanks' under your breath and maybe even tipping the guy!

The above is a metaphor for VT the demon barber of rebrand street.
