Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins claims the club are ‘staggered’ by the sums required to land Blackpool star Tom Ince.
South Wales rivals Cardiff are on the verge of sealing a £8million deal for the England Under-21 star, after the former Liverpool star agreed a £35,000-a-week contract with the Bluebirds.
And Jenkins admits, while they were interested in landing the 21-year-old earlier this summer, he’s too expensive for the Swans.
“Our manager has been keen on Tom Ince for a while, ever since he played for Blackpool against us” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show. “The prices that have been quoted for Tom Ince are staggering though.
“There’s no doubt he’s going to get a move this summer, but I’m not sure where he’ll end up going.”

The only reference our Chairman has ever made to Swansea City is to say he hoped Malky could sign 11 Michus. Bryn Cartwright is f*cking obsessed with Cardiff City. He's always on about us. Does he post on here too? Whoever ends up getting Ince is getting a bright star, a lad destined for better things. Will we recoup our money? I think one good season in the Premiership will see his stock rise to over £10m - thats the fee AND a years salary covered. Two seasons, if he continue to improve? Now lets talk about that ugly f*cking alien off Star Trek. Jon Luc Picards 'genetic' son. Shelby has cost them over £6m, i daresay his wages will be in or around the £30k a week bracket... and he is at best AVERAGE.

It's f**king ridiculous! As much as I thik you are paying over the odds for Ince, the Shelvey fee is far too high, added to that, the news that Dyer might be off for £5m and it's fair to say I'm not having a good day.

shocking that Dyer one, two good seasons in the prem, personally i would rate him closer to 8-10m.
Shelvey im surprised at, really dont think hes a swansea type of player.

He looks like an extra from the film "the hills have eyes"
On that basis i'd say hes a perfect fit for Swansea

Where's Dyer off then?
I'm still amazed by you guys going for Shevely, decent player but I wouldn't say he would suit your style of play

But this is Ince we're talking about, not just some average Championship player.

I agree, but it's still far too much for someone untested at a higher level

Nobody knows how Ince will perform at Prem level.
Look at Sinclair and Graham, arguably better championship records yet cant cut in the Prem. £8m is staggering. But so is £6m for Shelvey.
The extra 40% income for prem clubs this year has inflated player prices almost to the same rate.
