Huw Jenkins " staggered" by ince deal money

Wed Jul 03, 2013 10:38 am

The gypos chairman says he's " staggered" by the amount of money being asked for ince. I take it he means fees and wages. On the talk sport website.

I think he's got a point.

3rd July 2013

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins claims the club are ‘staggered’ by the sums required to land Blackpool star Tom Ince.

South Wales rivals Cardiff are on the verge of sealing a £8million deal for the England Under-21 star, after the former Liverpool star agreed a £35,000-a-week contract with the Bluebirds.
And Jenkins admits, while they were interested in landing the 21-year-old earlier this summer, he’s too expensive for the Swans.
“Our manager has been keen on Tom Ince for a while, ever since he played for Blackpool against us” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show. “The prices that have been quoted for Tom Ince are staggering though.
“There’s no doubt he’s going to get a move this summer, but I’m not sure where he’ll end up going.”

Exactly!
I think Ince is a far better player than Shelvey. Premier League reserve team player against top Championship player playing for a shit team on a shit pitch.

The only reference our Chairman has ever made to Swansea City is to say he hoped Malky could sign 11 Michus. Bryn Cartwright is f*cking obsessed with Cardiff City. He's always on about us. Does he post on here too? Whoever ends up getting Ince is getting a bright star, a lad destined for better things. Will we recoup our money? I think one good season in the Premiership will see his stock rise to over £10m - thats the fee AND a years salary covered. Two seasons, if he continue to improve? Now lets talk about that ugly f*cking alien off Star Trek. Jon Luc Picards 'genetic' son. Shelby has cost them over £6m, i daresay his wages will be in or around the £30k a week bracket... and he is at best AVERAGE.

They think £8m for Ince is staggering yet £6m for Shelvey is okay? They're just bitter because they can't get him.

It's f**king ridiculous! As much as I thik you are paying over the odds for Ince, the Shelvey fee is far too high, added to that, the news that Dyer might be off for £5m and it's fair to say I'm not having a good day.

Where's Dyer off then?

I'm still amazed by you guys going for Shevely, decent player but I wouldn't say he would suit your style of play

shocking that Dyer one, two good seasons in the prem, personally i would rate him closer to 8-10m.

Shelvey im surprised at, really dont think hes a swansea type of player.

He looks like an extra from the film "the hills have eyes"

On that basis i'd say hes a perfect fit for Swansea

Suprised at that but £5 million is a decent deal. No wonder your looking for wingers. I would have thought this year you would just add to your team rather than lose a few players

Nobody knows how Ince will perform at Prem level.

Look at Sinclair and Graham, arguably better championship records yet cant cut in the Prem. £8m is staggering. But so is £6m for Shelvey.

The extra 40% income for prem clubs this year has inflated player prices almost to the same rate.

Graham had a decent strike rate in the first season in the Prem 14/15? And he was up to 7 goals when he left for Sunderland last year which wasn't bad considering he was in and out of the team. There seems to be this myth that Graham was dogshit in the Prem, when he clearly wasn't bad, If memory serves he was the 3rd highest English scorer that first season.

As a business proposition, Cardiff City have far more chance of making money in the long run out of Tom Ince
than Swansea do from that freaky looking fucker Shelvey. So Jenkins' comments are unfounded, if not spectacularly
wrong. He usually gets a bee in his bonnet about us once in a a while. This time I think he's getting knocked back
on players and is not happy seeing the squad Malky is building. Add to that the pressure it puts on him when
Laudrup says he wants more money to spend. Bad times for Cartwright

Re: Huw Jenkins " staggered" by ince deal money

Wed Jul 03, 2013 12:09 pm

According to the Jacks on here Ince was a poor man's Scott Sinclair yet their very own manager thinks different :D No wonder ML is getting pissed off with Huw Jenkins when he has to take Shelvey over Ince.

Re: Huw Jenkins " staggered" by ince deal money

Wed Jul 03, 2013 12:09 pm

The comment by huw highlights the differing strategies of both clubs.....

Cardiff are gambling a lot of money on a 21year old English prospect.
Tan has "bought" us not to make half a million over five years but tens of millions as quick as he can

Swansea are going safe with older proven (in la Liga) players....Huw and his mates want a six figure sum dropping into their accounts every few years

If this goes bang for Swansea, they will survive but drop like a stone through the leagues.
If this goes bang for Cardiff Tan loses a chunk of his pocket money and we drop like a stone through the leagues......

No real moral high ground for either of us

Enjoy the ride.........
