Cardiff City Forum

A forum for all things Cardiff City

Steve borley, the public face of cardiff city.

Wed Jul 03, 2013 8:18 am

When will borley ever shut up? Spats with fans on twitter and football forums, steve we're premier league now, give it a rest.

I can understand borley sticking up for paul guy against carl curtis and him feeling curtis was over the top with his comments but couldnt borley have made a phone call or sent a pm and not contributed to washing the clubs business in public? I don't know cc or have i ever replied to his posts, but, to my knowledge carl curtis is not employed by the club, steve borleys is a director. Start acting like one.

Borleys in danger of turning into our answer to joe kinnear. Can you imagine daniel levy of spurs or an arsenal director having a set two about the club on a football forum? The mans been twittering nonsense to fans for the past year, its embarrassing.

Borley will soon be our representative in the boardrooms of spurs, man city and arsenal. God knows what the roman abravovich and such like will make of him. Borley will probably ask gwyn davis up to the old trafford boardroom to show bobby charlton a few judo moves.

Steve, you may have been in the right last night but for the sake of yourself and the club, close that stupid twitter account down and shut the f**k up.

Difference is Steve is a true fan of the club he is a director of, the examples you gave aren't.

Re: Steve borley, the public face of cardiff city.

Sounds like someone's got an axe to grind against Steve borely.
he's just a passionate Cardiff City fan who happens to be a director.

Re: Steve borley, the public face of cardiff city.

Steve holds a position where he just cannot act like a stereo Cardiff fan. That is he cannot say things on such medias as Internet forums. I agree with the OP he should stay away from the twitters and message board. Saying that I do like it when such people do post, it usually turns out entertaining.

Steve borley is a director. With that comes certain response abilities . Ie twittering about a peacefully held cardiff city meeting and sluring fans for holding it in a pub shows how far he has drifted from reality.

I wasn't at that bu meeting at the corporation, but steve painted it like some kind of Syrian uprising where everyone got hammered and ended up firing ak47s in the air. They are real fans too,and borley would do well to remember it.

Mr borley was spot on last night,

I agree with twitter, I don't think anyone at our club on playing staff or back office should be on twitter themselves. By all means have a PA run it for you and do q&a's Etc but we are in the limelight now and twitter/Facebook are the devil, when not used correctly.

But as for the OPs point, if carl wants to have a public column in the echo, then he needs to refrain from getting involved in such matters himself, as much as most fans don't like his column or believe the crap he spouts, he is in the public domain as paper columnist and has a fair few readers meaning he has to act accordingly.

Maybe he should stay off twitter and so on, but I would much rather hear something straight from the horses mouth, it's better than second of third hand :ayatollah:

I agree with you and you can't have one person saying something and then when someone else disagrees then try and turn the tables on them

As pointed out on numerous occassions, it's an idiots guide to knowing your place, fans are fans and should remain so. BUT whilst we have the on-going battle to be in the know, constant views that Directors and CEO and owners should commit to answering fans in person, you are going to get this happening.

That's why we love Cardiff City, we're different, just some are more different than others   :D

I didnt say he was right to do it, I just gave a reason why as being he is a fan he will be just as emotional about the club as us. Where the examples you gave arent emotionally tied to their clubs in the same way.

Not at all. I remember what steve did for the club in the dark days, and I understand him sticking up for paul guy last night, but as the thread title says he is a public face of the club, he will be under scrutiny next season (we all will) and if this continues the media will have a field day.

Why would I want to stay off here, did I say all posts and threads NO I didn't  lots of posts are just about banter, not second hand just news. When I want news confirmed then I will go to the official site

So it's ok for Steve Borley to take abuse from people (AND THAT DOESN'T INCLUDE CARL IMHO ;) ) who only think they are ITK but he has no right of reply because you don't like it?

Fella, I think Steve Borley has been quite restrained, given the shite that has been aimed at him at a personal level in recent times. Mind you, WTF has he ever done for Cardiff City FC, eh?

If someone is who is in a position of influence is spreading misinformation then the club is correct in my opinion in commenting on said misinformation openly on the same public forum, be that a message board or social media.

This forum has thousands of members who like it or not could be influenced by the views and opinions of the people who run the board.

The club must respond to allegations that are made which are evidently false to ensure that the fans are not mislead

He's a director, it comes with the job. All owners/ directors get abuse, at all clubs. Not saying its right, just the way it is.

As for twitter and public msg boards, I'd go as far as even banning players using them. They only end up in trouble.

Love it or loathe it
Steve Borley is a breath of fresh air in the fact that he is real and a real fan.

Too often clubs disjoint themselves from fans and this does not bode well with many fans of many clubs.

Last nights spat has been blown dramatically in a way as it was open converstation and people with axes to grind on this and the other message board have lopped it up with relish.

Whether he's had it coming or not-

Carl got turned over on this matter, simple as. but I dont think it bigger than that and Steve Borley
didnt write anything inflamatory, just the opposite
(wind ur kneck in boy and PTB as you are totally wrong on this).

I understand agendas from fans, jack fans on here and fans with multiple accounts can be a pain in the arse.
with their intentional stirring.

But what a refreshing thing the Steve Borley takes time to communicate with fans on our level - we are the local lifeblood of the club. :ayatollah:

I don't find it " refreshing" when the director of Cardiff city football club calls fans, drunks, hooligans, trouble makers, the enemy of the club, radicals , etc. when most of them fans have spent a lot of time and money following the club home and away for many years.
