A post linked us to this player yesterday and now another story has surfaced. I read the special one is desperate to get his hands on this lad amongst many others, so cant really see how we can compete.

He's young, hungry and super talented just what Malkys chasing, but we would need to put an incredible offer on the table unfortunately. :(

You have got to admire our ambition though! :ayatollah:

English Premier League new boys Cardiff City have joined Bundesliga club Wolfsburg in being the latest side to move for Saint-Etienne defender Kurt Zouma.

The 18-year-old centre-back has attracted attention from a whole host of clubs, including Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Newcastle, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Zouma is currently competing for France at the Under-20 World Cup in Turkey, but is due to hold talks with Saint-Etienne over his future when he returns to the club.

And interest in his services is heating up..

While Wolfsburg are believed to have bid €10m for Zouma, according to French radio station RMC, Cardiff have submitted a similar offer to Les Verts.

Each would be delighted to snap up the Lyon-born stopper, though it remains to be seen how Saint-Etienne will view their respective offers.

Zouma is ready to continue his footballing education with Les Verts, but the decision may be taken out of his hands if the bid is deemed irresistible by the Ligue 1 side.

Chelsea have asked St Etienne to name their price for defender Kurt Zouma as Jose Mourinho continues to shape his new-look Blues squad.

Mourinho has already swooped for Bayer Leverkusen winger Andre Schurrle, and the Special One is targeting two more signings before Chelsea return to pre-season training.

Top of the list is the addition of a new centre back and, after refusing to meet Porto’s £50million valuation of Eliaquim Mangala, French youngster Zouma is the new target.

Manchester United and Newcastle have already failed with bids for the 18-year-old, and Chelsea want to know exactly how much St Etienne are demanding before doing business.

According to reports in France, Mourinho has personally approached the Ligue 1 club and is waiting on a firm answer before lodging a bid of his own.

A tall, athletic and strong defender, Zouma made 40 first-team appearances last season for St Etienne after graduating from their academy.

QPR tried to convince him to come to the Premier League in January, but an £8million deal collapsed despite the player admitting his love for English football.

A path for Zouma’s arrival has already been cleared in the Chelsea squad, with Mourinho selling defender Jeffrey Bruma to PSV this week for £2.5million.

Fellow youngsters Kenneth Omeruo and Tomas Kalas are also set to leave, most likely on loan despite being full internationals, in order to accommodate Zouma.

Mourinho’s clear-out continued this week with Marko Marin moving to Sevilla on loan, while offers are on the table for John Obi Mikel and Oriol Romeu.
