Tue Jul 02, 2013 10:19 am

Anybody know if there is coverage anywhere for Bala and Prestatyn games tonight/tomorrow in the Europa League?
Can't see anything on S4C which is very disappointing. Intrigued to see how they get on and at this moment in time im willing to watch any football going! :ayatollah:

This is where Welsh football can improve, more broadcasting more recognition

And more advertising in general (not just tv, radio). The WAG should give football more money. The FA and the UK government are probably making decent money from all the money bought in the country via football.

The only way the Welsh league can go is to become a summer league like the Irish league. Everyone knows that is FACT but the FAW are too spinless to do it!!!

The only way the Welsh league will get better is when Swansea, Cardiff, Newport, Wrexham and Merthyr go into. Take out the 5 most populated places teams in any league and it will be significantly weakened. Thank f**k it won't happen but they are fighting a losing battle.

How is it a fact? The Irish league is hardly prolific.

Even that won't work, may get a few fans from the bigger Welsh clubs but not a lot of support to really get any interest going. Not enough South Wales based teams that are attractive to the public. For me I support Prestatyn as I lived there for a few years.

No games on TV as of yet, don't think Bala's will be, they play tonight, Prestatyn on Thursday

I went to one welsh league game (not premier) and I quite enjoyed it. With more investment I think the welsh leagues could do well, just need to target plastic man ure, liverpools, chavski fans etc.

No but Irish teams are now qualifing to the group stage of the UEFA Cup so there's progess on the field. There is also progress off the field with attendance figures raising as people have got at least some standard of football to watch during the summer months,

Then I stand corrected! However it still needs more investment and recognition.

Can you post a link of attendances for the Irish league?

All the best to Prestatyn and Bala. I watch Carmarthen Town a bit, when there is no clash with the City. Decent set-up, and usually enjoy the games. Mark Aizlewood is the manager.

As for Irish football, SKY shows some games from Northern Ireland. Crowds seem decent enough. Always thought of Northern Ireland as a proper football country. The Irish Football Association is the fourth oldest in the world. Shame that the southern clubs broke away.

They are calling for Northern Irish teams to follow the South in going for a summer league

Interesting. Surely it would make sense. Lots of us would probably watch, at least some, non-league football in the summer. Their grounds can be very bleak in winter, even when there is no clash with our favourite clubs. Most South Wales based non-league clubs have suffered from ours and Swansea's rise over the last ten years. Perhaps, with summer football, Barry Town and Llanelli would not have faced such a difficult time. As for Northern Ireland, loads of fans travel to Scotland every week to follow one of the Glasgow clubs. Summer football would probably help them too, by avoiding this clash of fixtures.

Exactly, ive been banging on about this for years. The difference it would make even at my level in amateur football, where people cant be arsed to train because chelsea is on tv, or people/friends dont come watch us because the manchester derby is on sky or cardiff are playing etc etc it filters all the way down.
